iPhone 4S dropping network and data at random

Hi,

I've been using an iPhone 4 on a Vodafone contract for the past 16 month and just bought an iPhone 4S direct from Apple. It arrived on Friday morning and I got it set up correctly as far as I can tell.

When I first turn it on, it works lovely and exactly as I would expect, able to make calls, send texts and access the internet via the cellular network. However, at what appears to be random, the network will disappear (no bars of signal) stopping me making calls and texts, but still allowing me to access the internet. Sometimes, the Internet goes, but I can still make calls and texts. Other times, everything is gone and I get "No Signal" where it normally says Vodafone UK.

So when trying to fix this problem after it's noticed, I try putting it into Airplane mode and back out. The phone scans for a network and goes back to the same state as before I tried this fix. I have tried resetting network settings, but this doesn't change anything. The only thing that actually fixes it temporarily is turning the phone right off and back on again.

At this stage I assume this is a bug with the software, but I wondered if anyone else is experiencing anything like this? If no one is, I will take it up with Apple, but I don't really want to do that as I love the new phone so much!!

it's written 3G+ on it !

But it's not the point. the same SIM card was working great with the iPhone 4, why it should'nt work the same way with the 4S ?

Apple puts us in an idiotic situation ... Why can not resolve the problem in individual update?

Why we should wait until they will make updating all that would like to?

... Solve the problem that makes your product in a piece of iron and glass for million users... and everything else we wait, it's not important!

Maybe because 4S has a new user (hybrid) registration system..., it can be used in a CDMA (verizon) without SIM or GSM w/ SIM. I´ve read in some place that Apple was working on a new GSM system, maybe that is it.

I PURCHASED A FACTORY UNLOCKED IPHONE 4S WITHIN THE US AND PAID $706 FOR IT AND WHEN I SHIPPED IT OUT INTERNATIONALLY TO MY FIANCE BACK AT HOME, SHE CONNECTED THE PHONE TO ITUNES AND SHE IS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE IT. IT DOES NOT GIVE THE MESSAGE "YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY UNLOCKED" AND THEREFORE IT SAYS NO SERVICE ON THE PHONE. THE OPERATING SYSTEM ON THE PHONE IS THE iOS 5.0.1. FURTHERMORE, I GOT IN CONTACT WITH A SENIOR ADVISOR FROM APPLE AND HE TOLD US TO RESTORE THE PHONE AND THAT MIGHT HELP. SHE TRIED RESTORING THE PHONE AND NOW WE CAME ACROSS ANOTHER PROBLEM WHICH GIVES HER THE ERROR 1630. PLEASE CAN ANYBODY HELP???

Hello

Finally found a solurion to all my frusturations

Problem- Network suddenly drops after trying to make a call and after wating 5 minutes I get to make a call, Got my phone replaced, no good

Solution- went to a 10 story mobile show room, threw the phone out of the window( not hurting any one) Bought an new android phone half the price.

NOW i get to make simple PHONE CALLS

well you shouldnt do that..no matter how apple did wrong with the ios 5.1, its still so much better than android, and also i just got new iphone with ios 5 instead of 5.1 and im completely satisfied! android can never be that good 😉

Well whats done is done, apple phone is lying on the road side. my frrusturation is gone

and i have rediscovered a happyness in making a simple phone call. idont care if its android i am just happy!

I'm in India I did all the above ,sim pin, restore and so......no result...But I changed my operator and now now everything is fine ...signal full and nothing wrong...once test it..

Hi, what operator have you been using? I am using Airtel, but I am not able to get a good signal. I regularly have no signal with the the phone displaying "searching" for like 10 mins until I switch on and off the Airplane mode.

Hi, does DOCOMO have a good 3G network that will work all over Delhi (if you are from Delhi)? I was thinking of changing it to Aircel, but I do not know if anyone has tried that.

New problem: In the morning when I woke up my phone showed Invalid Sim....I had to switch it off and then turn it back on, removed my sim and then put it back again to get the network. Anyone else having the same problem?
