I just bought the iPhone 4s and I love it, but I have a problem with the sound from the earphones included with the phone. I have played the exact same file and song on my partners iPhone 4 and it sounds crisp and clear with the same earphones, same eq setting etc, when I play the song on my new 4s it sounds muddy. I'm not sure how to fix this? Sound quality is very important to me, any suggestions much appreciated, thank you.

Same thing here. Side-by-side, direct comparison with a 3GS synced from the same Mac, same settings, same earbuds, same song. I'm not usually picky about these things, but this is enough of a difference to bother even me.
I think I just managed to fix this problem. After a while of doing various web searches that turned up nothing really, I decided to reset my phone (by holding the power button and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears) and it fixed the sound issue, now I am satisfied and the same song that sounded muddy now sounds crisp and clear with a good balance of bass, treble and mid tones. Hope this helps yours too.
It didn't, but I'm getting better sound out of my Skull Candy earbuds, so I'll just use those instead when listening to music.
