My iPhone 4S Bluetooth will not connect with either my iPad1, MacBook Pro or Automobile BT. Suspect a stack issue in new BT 4.0 (BTLE) release. Has any one discovered fix to this. I have tried this with two separate 4S phones and have same problem..

One further clarification. I am most concerned with connecting with BT in automobile. I can use WiFi to tether to my other devices. I cannot change the car very easily! My iPhone 3G had no connection issues.

iPhone 4, iOS 5, iPhone 4S BT 4.0

I opened a case and spoke to Apple Support on the issue. I would encourage everyone with BT issues to open a case moving. Until they see a number of cases they will not consider the problem to be a bug. The supervisor (who I did nto speak to directly) told the support person that my car had to be 4S compatible! Did Apple invent a time machine other than for backup?! Bluetooth.org has the specs and BT 4.0 is supposed to be backward compatible with BT 3.0, 2.1 etc. I plan to take the phone into the Apple Store next. I can't believe it is anything other than bad software at this point. I sure hope so. I like the 4S speed and performance, but I cannot replace my car with a new BT handsfree system (integral to car) unless Apple warranty covers it!

I managed to pair my iPhone 4S with my 2008 Mazda CX9 to use the handsfree support available in the car enabled by Bluetooth. Not all phones will pair such as the original iPhone 2007, but the iPhone 4S should be fine. I know when I first was making the connection, it took a while to make the connection. But after that when I re-entered to car, the phone and car's Bluetooth automatic re-connection was very quick.

My wife recently got the iphone 4s (ios5.0) and I'm having the same pairing problems with our 2010 honda CRV. I have an iphone 4 and have no issues, and have had no problems with previous versions either. This is an unacceptable situation as we seem to be going backwards - we can no longer use handsfree with a new phone in our nearly new car!

I have a new 2011 Pugeout 207 that worked brilliantly with bluetooth on my last iphone3GS, now however with my new iphone 4s it doesnt work. I go on the bluetooth section and all I see is the wheel spinning round constamtly in the bluetooth devices section.

This feels very much like a step backwards in my opinion. Very disappointed and i know it's a problem with the iphone 4S.

I got the Iphone 4s, it will not pair with my Bluetooth in my car. Apple doesn't seem to know what the problem is... and VW said it must be the phone if all my other phones have worked! I never had a problem with my Blackberry, it would connect automatically and that was that.

I was on the phone with Apple and they talked me through the whole thing for about 30 mins. Nothing worked! It finds the car, connects and disconnects within a second. I've unpaired all my other devices to my car, but it keeps doing the same thing. I've also reset my phone about 8 times and it makes no difference. So I still have no hands free in my car, which is very disappointing!!

My phone won't even find the MacBook, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro in my home. It has to be this new phone because there is no problem when I pair every other device to each other.

Do you think Apple is going to solve this issue?

Well I can tell you that my iPhone 4 s will not see any Bluetooth devices. Doesn't see my iPad 2 either and ipad2 can't see the phone as well. I've checked other iPhone 4s and they all have the same issue.

So I now have a Bluetooth device that's useless. Won't pair with anything or see anything

Really unhappy at apple for this. Bluetooth may not be widely used on iPhone but it doesn't work what so ever on 4s

Has the Bluetooth function been tested? What is wrong with it.

I'm hoping apple sees these threads and fixes if it can as of present I have a £700 iPhone that can't bluetooth bit my £30 cheap phone can. It's not funny

I'm new. Same bluetooth problem. Will not pair with my 2010 VW GTI w NAV system, or my MacBook Pro 17" (just discovered the MacB prob.)

When I initially discovered the problem I went to an Apple Store. Genius was excellent but requested that I check with VW. VW people were very helpful. A mechanic had an iphone 4s. He came out to the car ... He could not pair my phone but he could pair his phone ... So, it's the iphone ... Back to the Apple Store ... the genius was really good. He replaced the iphone. Great ! So, back out to the car & it would not pair, still. So ... can't be the phone , right. Back to VW. The Audi manager had an iphone 4S. He paired his phone with my car. He could not pair my phone to my car. He tries my phone in a new 2011 GTI sitting on the lot ... my phone pairs with it just fine. So ... it's my car. So ... make an appointment to get the bluetooth module replaced. They replace the Bluetooth module. My iphone will not pair. They end up pairing 2 different iphone 4S to my car ... but not my iphone 4S. My iphone 4S will also not pair with another 2010 GTI they have in for service. Though the 2 iphone 4S

pair with the second GTI just fine. They even try pairing my iphone with a brand new 2012 GTI in the showroom ... yep ... it paired fine. So ... ????????????????

They are going to update my nav software next (tomorrow), Hopeful ??? not really ... Will be taking my computer to Apple Store next ... maybe if they can discover why it will not pair to my MacBook Pro it will lead to a solution for the GTI ??? I'll get back to you.

In reference to linking Apple devices.

I managed to talk with Apple Support on a number of occasions. The first person lead me up the garden path and I reset and restored the iPhone all to no avail. Then I got an operator that seemed to know what he was talking about and he assured me that the iPhone 4s was not designed to link with any other Apple devices using BT, even though it has been possible. (My iPhone 3G will pair with the iPad1). Some App developers use work-arounds that work well (eg PhotoSync).

This doesn't help with the car problems.

My iPhone 4S Bluetooth will not connect with either my iPad1, MacBook Pro or Automobile BT. Suspect a stack issue in new BT 4.0 (BTLE) release. Has any one discovered fix to this. I have tried this with two separate 4S phones and have same problem..
