Battery Draining much faster on 4S, what can I do?

MY 4S battery drains about 20-30 percent faster then normal. At the end of the day I normally have about 30-40 percent of my battery left. Now it is always down to under 10%. Even asleep it seems to drain much faster. I know the icloud service has some effect on this, but is there anything I can do to maximize battery life....other then the normal things like turning off wifi etc etc...I know those.

Hehe, i never said don't use the phone or dont turn it on. Was simply listing known battery tweaks off the top of my head. It's all user preference anyway... just apply whatever battery savings pertains to you. Remeber this is the iphone not ipad. You cant exactly just leave everything on full blast and expect decent battery life.

Also, some of us tend to keep phones for 2-3+ years. So the better you manage and condition the battery, the more reliable it will remain in the long run. Less full charge cycles = longer predictable lifespan.

Attempting some of the tweaks you guys posted here (especially disabling the email extras such as notes, calendars etc. as well as switching off automatic store downloads) i have found out that my usage time (settings - general - usage) has drastically reduced whereas before applying those 'tweaks' the usage time was an exact figure as standby time. Not too sure whether this will now mean that my battery lifes about to improve. However, what bothers me the most is the fact that my old 3GS uses the same settings as the new 4S and yet it didnt require me to apply those changes with battery lasting about 40hrs easily.

I had an issue in the past where my battery on my iPhone 4 was draining completely in about 2 hours from a full charge. The Apple Genius Bar suggested that a background process might be causing this and to try completely restoring the phone, and not restoring from a backup. It was a pain to get everything loaded back on/setup on the phone again, but the battery problem went away.

I'm guessing something like this is happening here.

My iPhone 4, which I bought on Day 1 back in April of 2010 had superb battery life from the first day I had it until I shut it down last Friday when my new 4S 64GB arrived. Literally no degradation over 16 months. I was a very happy camper.

When I loaded iOS5 on my iPhone 4 32GB on Wednesday night I saw no increased battery drain. It was still excellent.

My new iPhone 4S 64Gb, with essentially the same settings as my 4 on iOS5, has been absolutely atrocious! I've tried everything from three deep cycle discharges-recharges through all the fiddly adjustments I could think of and as suggested by the more stable members of the community here. Still my battery plunges faster than the DJA in November 2008. I'm having to charge it three times a day. My old trust 4 would go for 36+ hours.

What's up Apple. It can't all be iOS 5. Can we say "batterygate"?

Hi,

my battery(iPhone 4S) is drowning to much in standby. i have the feeling that need to charge it every 12 hours. now i disabed the most of the functions and it seems ok, but an iPhone without an active function? I honestly cant believe that this is normal to the iPhone 4S.

Making so much commercials and a big presentation about all this functions, and then not having enough standby for one day doesnt seem normal to me. i know better from Apple.

I have a 4S. Restored my phone from a backup from iCloud. Then sync'ed the remainder of my music from my PC (which this process corrupted something in the rights management and I couldnt play purchased muscic) My phone would drain 30% of power over night in standby. I did a complete restore and set up the phone as new. I made changes and stopped using my Gmail setup as an exchange and moved my contacts from Gmail to iCloud. I setup up gmail as a gmail email and left on calendar and email options. Re-setup everything else the same as before less this mild adjustment. Battery is much improved with a loss of 1-2% over night in standby.

Have the same problems here. I got it on 1st day. Didn't worry too much at first because I've noticed with my other iphones/ipads that it will take a few days or week (with several full charges) to get the battery life up and once it does it lasts as long or longer than they claim.

Unfortunately that is not the case with the 4S. If I don't put on charger throughout the day it will be dead within 5-6hrs with not a lot of usage. 2-3 if I try to use it regularly.

I'm getting about half or less battery life than I got with my iphone 4. Heck, I have to put on charger when I go to sleep or it will be dead by morning if it wasn't 50% or better when I went to bed.

I have the exact same config I was using from Iphone4... let itunes handle backup and restore. Only difference is iCloud instead of using Google apps to sync my data. Don't use iCloud for backup, but I understand that would only work if plugged in anyway.

Carrier is AT&T and I do live in an area that has HSPA+, I live just below San Antonio, TX (wihich has full 4G LTE).

I would return this but I've already sent my 4 off to my son in Nevada.

Since I got my iPhone 4s I noticed how fast the battery drains out

I did not install the IOS5 on my iPhone 3gs and kept the IOS 4.2 because I was afraid the battery would not last

but now both iPhones last the same = a very short time !

The 3gs is 2 years old and the iPhone 4s is only few weeks old.. 😟

I tried everything suggested to prolong the battery life: still does not last as long as it should

With everything off, airport mode, and in standby it consumes 3% battery every 2 hours!

What shall I do?

Is it normal?

Beside that everything is fantastic but the battery 😠

Battery Draining much faster on 4S, what can I do?
