After installing itunes 10.5 the folder for books no longer exists. Also in the synch data options theres no option for a book folder for ibook. How do i add my books to ibooks on my ipad 1 running ios5?
Do you mean that you don't get a Books section under Library on the right-hand side of your computer's iTunes (in which case make sure that Books is ticked on the Genera tab in Edit > Preferences) ? Or you don't get a Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes when you've selected the iPad 'device' on the left-hand side ?
