Any luck setting up iCloud on Android?
I've switched over to iCloud and now my Samsung Sidekick won't work with my Mac email. Anyone sorted this out yet?

Could be - this was a repost of what Velo Jones said worked for their Razr Max, and that was what Willhit was asking Velo Jones for.
(The settings I used for my RAZR i, I have posted earlier on this thread, and are different from these, and include using smtp.mail.me.)
Do they work?
The settings from Nicole at Motorola that I reposted two pages back work perfectly for me
And you are OK with having your mail sent in the clear?
Outgoing settings
SMTP server smtp.mail.me.com
Port 587
Security type None
untick require sign-in
That's up to you, but please advise others of that when you suggest it.
You are looking at the wrong posting. I am talking about the one I reposted that was from Nicole at Motorola. These are the ones I use, as I stated in my last posting.
They are on page 13, so they are posted here.
The settings from Motorola relate to exactly what you see in the Manual Mail settings section on a RAZR i
For instance there is a line "IMAP path prefix" which needs to be left Blank. The Apple instructions do not even mention this line. Also Security type is specifically TLS (accept all certificates). Apple suggests to try SSL or plain TLS. I have experimented & SSL & plain TLS do not work.
So following these full instructions allows anyone with the RAZR i to quickly set up their phone with no trial or error.
Easy.
I use the standard Apple settings on an HTC Wildfire phone, they work fine so I won't mess around with these other sets. Thanks.
Lots of the email suggestions make sense. I just went to "Accounts" in mail preferences and took the server names from there.
For contacts and Calendars the SmoothSync app in the Google Play Store work perfectly for me. All they need is your Apple ID and Password. So long as your Mac is set up to sync these with iCloud (Prefs in both Mail and iCloud SysPref)
For Notes, I turned off iCloud for them on my Mac and sync them through Google. Seemless success.
Hope this helps.
+1 for SmoothSync (calendars and contacts)
I have a Samsung S3 and have ICAL synced through icloud to samsung s3 phone via the app called' smoothsync for ical' which is working.
Kies will not sync from ical to s-planner
Problem: whether I create an event on my phone or via ICAL a duplicate event is created on my phone (not on the the mac or ipad), duplicates are only created in the phones s-planner. When I delete a duplicate on the phone it then erases the all the related events on all ical and then deletes it on the phone. So I end up with no event recorded on any calendar, thank goodness for backups as I have to relaod the calendar again.
Does anyone know how to stop the duplicate events on my phone?
You cannot setup mail on your phone ? I had no problem try the app called email on the samsung app .
I had no problem it does it for you you have to follow some of what it asks on the screen simple to do .
there isn't a problem with mail, it is a problem with the schudle/calendar. Duplicates are showing in my phones calendar eg if I should have 3 appointments for the day it is showing as duplicates, i.e. 6 appointments..
ICAL calendar in Mac is showing as single apointments and the same appointments are duplicates in my phone.
iCloud is not supported on an Android, you will need to get support from SmoothSync
thank you body, it works sending&receiving perfect, on my new htc one.
After searching through this thread and other blog posts, I decided to consolidate the steps and put them up for all fellow android users. Here's the step-by-step process. Hope this helps
