Any luck setting up iCloud on Android?

I've switched over to iCloud and now my Samsung Sidekick won't work with my Mac email. Anyone sorted this out yet?

At last managed to get the xxxxx@mac.com setup. It was refusing to setup but after playing around with my apple id it has this morning worked. I edited the apple id and found I had both a .mac and .me address associated with it. I deleted the .me and then reset up the .me. After several hours it started to work. Had to set up the .mac as username as this was the primary email address.

That worked for me too. Strangely my mac.com email was working great on my Samsung Galaxy II until recently and I had originally set it up with only my mac.com address and the password. Changing the IMAP to a me.com format fixed the problem. I kept the outgoing SMTP a mac.com format and it worked. Fortunately because this was going to be the final straw for me switching full-time to GMail. I guess Mac.com will live on for a time longer.

Unfortrunately you're not going to get perfect sync if you switch to an android and use iCloud services. The email will be ok, but not great. For example, when I read an email on my Android it will show up almost instantly on iCloud as read, but things like 'sent' emails don't sync up most of the time. Maybe I'm doing something wrong there but I haven't been able to figure it out. Contacts works pretty well if you use a gmail workaround because the contacts on an Android sync with gmail. Unfortunately I don't think there is a good way to sync the iCal with an Android. If anyone has any suggestions then I'm all ears because I've been trying to figure that part out for awhile.

Overall, if you want 100% push syncing with iCloud then you don't want an Android. If you can live with a couple of imperfections then there are ways to make it work.

Hi guys,

I've been using iCloud on my Android device (Galaxy Note) for a few months without any issues..

Now, all of a sudden, it seems like outgoing server smtp doesn't work anymore.

I've been trying all kind of stuff, but the setup refuses to work.

Anyone with the same issue?

My config is:

imap.mail.me.com

SSL required

Sign in required

username (no @me.com)

password

smtp.mail.me.com

SSL required

Sign in required

username (no @me.com)

password

Help!

My HTC Evo Android has connected to my .me email account flawlessly for over a year. Yesterday it just stopped. But also my iMac stopped. I finally got my iMac working again, but my Android still will not connect to my .me account. All of my seetings on the Android are like what has been posted above, but I still get get an error message the Android will not connect to the .me server. Any help would be welcomed.

Here is an update. On Thursday Apple changed the server my .mac email account was on. This is why my email was down most of the day. My iMac and iPad eventually had the change pushed out to them, but not my Android phone. The server changed from "mail.me.com" to "p02-imap.mail.me.com. When I changed the server on my Android, all was fixed. I understand the "p02" part of this new server can be anything from p02-p07. I found out when I went to my mail settings on my iMac and found the new server info.

So, guys, can anyone please confirm that MobileMe and iCloud work seamlessly now on Android?

When I say "seamlessly" I mean in the same way that they'd work on on iPhone - so they Push emails, iCal, and Contacts?

Or is Push still an issue?

The HTC One X is out here in the UK today and I have my eyes firmly on it 🙂
