Any luck setting up iCloud on Android?

I've switched over to iCloud and now my Samsung Sidekick won't work with my Mac email. Anyone sorted this out yet?

Banjoette,

Thanks for your note. I was following this thread because my mail stopped on the same day for both my (work) blackberry and my (personal) android. I knew it had to be the apple server. They changed the name. Your comments prompted me to look at my mac.

On my mac, the incoming server now had a p04-imap.mail.me.com. When I upgraded to iCloud and Lion, it took care of the Mac, but my personal phones were out of luck. Just changed the incoming setting to match the mac and both phones are working!

Thanks!

Well in fact it was my solution. And if you haven´t seen my post

I have had the similar problem after moving to I cloud. Then I did not have an android it hit my apple Ipod. I have xperia neo. I am convinced that this is an apple server **** up. But it only happends now and then and for android users. Because it happened just like that with no warning. It hit me as you can see earlier but is now sorted out.

First I deleted my appleaccount on my android. Then when wrote my old settings and tried to install the apple server answered wrong username or pasword. It was impossible to connect.

Then I decided to

change my I cloud password on my computer. mac mini

And on my computer the settings now looks like this

mailadress name@me.com

Server incoming mail, p01-imap.mail.me.com

my username (without me.com)

password xxxxx

Outgoing mail server .Mac(iCloud)

TLS certifikate com.apple.idms.appleid.prd

in tab advanced port 993

authentification , apple-mark

It may be so that the settings on your computer in a way may incompatible with your android.

After that I tried to make a new installation with the settings below. And after a few tries it worked. But it took a long time to get connected. And the phone must first get connected with incoming server. And then when sucessful it is the the outgoing server.

Here are how the settings are on my android.

username name@me.com

password xxxx

imapserver imap.mail.me.com

port 993

security ssl

outgoing server smtp.mail.me.com

port 587

security TSL (acc all certificates)

And the short of the long new password, check settings on computer. delete apple account on the phone and reinstall( I guess you still have all mail on computer). If the phone don´t connect It surelys is an apple server issue. But you will have to try several times and be patient when you see "connecting to server.

good luck

I thought I had tried all the p0x variants of the mail server, but since my Outlook settings haven't changed to include this I just figured something else was wrong.

I never use Apple Mail, but I checked the settings in there and found p04 added to the server name. Added that to my Droid and it is finally working again. Sort of. It pulled in mail once, then started giving me connection errors notices while still pulling in email.

It is very frustrating that different Android devices have different account settings. On a Droid 4 there are even more options than my Droid 2.

Hi All,

I've used iCloud on Android for a while... suddenly came to setting the account up again today after a factory reset of my Galaxy S3, and it no longer works.

All the usual settings that used to work simply no loner do... "iCloud connection error" is what I now get.

My settings, incoming.

example@mac.com (i have also tried @me.com)

password

imap.mail.me.com

SSL

993

Outgoing

smtp.mail.me.com

TLS

587

require sign in

example@mac.com (also tried @me.com)

password

Has something changed? Anyone else having issues...?

Thanks

The easiest way to get the new settings is to set up the account in Mail on a Mac. Then check the account settings and you'll see a specific mail server address to use. They added a number, I think from 00-07, and while my Android worked fine for a little while eventually it stopped working.

Mine is now p02-imap.mail.me.com, for example. You could try changing the numbers until it works, but it is a pain to do it that way.

Other settings might have a bearing, but it seems that each manufacturer has created the account settings differently (different security types and such).

Sorry but that's entirely wrong. Your iCloud account is singular, it has 1 server address, 1 security setting and 1 password; it matters not what you connect it too if you enter it correctly (and the device supports the settings) it will work, this is not magic.

I never said there would be different settings for different devices, just that it seems that each brand of Android device has slightly different choices for security beyond the basic server address settings. Adding in the P02 made things work on my phone finally. Someone suggested that might be location related, but I haven't confirmed that yet.

Using Android on an HTC Wildfire I entered the settings as per Apple (different from your settings) and it works, if you are using smtp.me.com then you are using the wrong server, post back in a month or so, I'd be curious to see if it is still working.

On general note I do believe that Apple know more about the correct settings than I do, or you..

I tried every other combination available, and I specifically tried the official apple config settings first. I also tried the working server settings from mail in 10.8, but that didn't work from the phone. The only setup that worked for me was the one from April 19th. (running ICS on the Maxx)

I'm not sure why the setups vary, but at least for now they apparently do. My hunch is that all the IDs have yet to be migrated to the new servers. (I wonder if it might have to do with the age of the ID? Mine dates back to iTools; and I can see how migrating the older data could be more complicated)

Any luck setting up iCloud on Android?
