iPhone 4S high pitch noise

I noticed the same thing in my car last night. Anyone have a fix?

I thought it was just my phone, but I went to the Apple store for support and got a new one. Same issue. I think it's interference from the dual antenna in the phone. Glad it's not just me. I was going insane.

Yes just plugged in my 4s in the car for the first time and noticed the same thing. Very annoying. I hope rs a software issue and not hardware.

Just posted about this in the iphone accessories section. I'm getting the same thing using the aux jack on my BMWx3. Never had this noise with my 3gs or ipod.

It's driving me crazy as I listen to a lot of music while driving via my iphone.

Glad to know I'm not the only one even though I'm not wishing this on anyone. 😉

I did try putting it in airplane mode to turn off the antenna to see if it was cellular related, but didn't solve it. But it sounds like the type of interference you get with electronic crosstalk interference. I hope this isn't a permanent problem with the new antenna design, etc...

I have the same issue, glad to know it's not just me.

The only thing I've found that helps a little is turning the volume on the iPhone (not the car stereo ;^)) up all the way. For whatever reason it seems to be a little less noticable 0.o you will still hear the whistle between songs and during soft interludes.

I've got the same problem. I'm using the Monster iCable 1000 in my 2002 Audi A4. My iPhone 4 did not make this sound with or without iOS 5. Maybe going to an "iPod cable" will fix? Anyone tried this?

What has me concerned right out of the gate as being an audio engineer whose worked in studios, this issue reminds of electronic crosstalk scenarios that could never be fixed via software, but caused by one piece of hardware interfering with another, or a fault in a piece of hardware related to the output.

The fact that I hit pause, and the noise continues for a few seconds after and then stops means that they cut any signal to the jack, most likely to conserve battery life and it's programmed to do that everytime. That leads me to believe anytime the jack is actively powered to send a signal, this problem occurs.

Maybe there is a way to fix this via software, but from my experiences with these issues when it comes to an audio signal, I'm very concerned that we're dealing with a hardware issue.

So has anyone talked to Apple about this? Hopefully they're on it already and we'll get some sort of fix....

Just wanted to report that I'm having this issue with two 4S's and I did not have with the two 4's they replaced.

My iPhone 4S has this same problem. The old 3G it replaced was fine.

I'm having the same issue with the 4S in my Infiniti G37. My 3GS had no such problems. Let's hope a fix is on the way, because the noise is unbearable.

I have spoken with the people at Applecare in depth about this issue. After running a couple unsuccessful tests at their request they suggested that it could be the audio connector kit firmware for my 08 Mini Cooper. I will be checking with the local Mini dealer in the morning to see if there are any updates. I will post what I find and let Apple know.

You all may want to do the same thing on your end just to see.

Today I swapped for the second time my iPhone 4s. I camped Thursday night, made number three in line and got my upgraded 64 GB white 4s from a 32 GB black 4. My issue is with the car auxiliary. When jack is plugged in there is a noise similar to static or a hissing. If the car charger is connected, the noise gets worse. When playing music if I pay close attention the noise remains in the background. I came back Saturday and they gave me a new one. Tried yesterday in different car, different cables, and compared to my old 4. The sound on the 4 comes out clean, 4s noisy. Had to end up coming back to Apple Store today and got my third phone in less than four days, problem persists. Looking at the ostings here I realized I am not the only one and this is definitely an issue with the 4S. Won't bring it back but will make sure I call back and reort the problem persists and I will mention the rest of the comments here as a proof that this is a real issue they should try to fix and we should be notified immediately as soon as the fix is ready.

same thing here: iPhone 4S (64GB) with AUX connected to BMW Z4 Coupé with buzzing noise. When stopping the song, the noise disappears after approx. 5-8 seconds, but reappears as soon as I start playing it again.

I have already replaced my 4S in the Apple Store, but still the same problem with the new phone. New cable didn't change a thing! Oddly enough, I didn't face the problem when connecting to my home stereo via 3.5 mm cable. Only in my car I have this noise.

I think it has to do with built-in pre-amplifier. Some have recommended to buy the PocketDock Line Out Mini USB with real line-out functionality from SendStations.

Same deal here... I get it softer during calls also... seems more intermittant there though... the high pitch makes using an aux cable unbearable in my 08 Mini Cooper S Clubman. Definitely a big deal for me... will be returning phone this weekend to see what they say at AT&T. I'm using a Monster AUX Cable that I used with my 3Gs without issue for two years in the same vehicle....

very frustrating when you dish out 400+ dollars for a phone....(4s 64GB Black)

Apple should provide a dock to AUX cable to fix this or something....
