iPhone 4S high pitch noise

I've noticed a suddle but noticable high pitch noice whenever the iPhone is connected to a stereo via the headphones jack. This is especially noticable in my car. The noise starts when any audio output comes on (Siri, unlocking phone, Music app, Spotify app) and goes away shortly after audio is terminated. My old iPhone 3GS does not have this problem even with the new iOS 5 update.

Has anyone noticed this? I can't listen to music on my iPhone in the car because it's annoying.

Thanks,

Dawid

Nice solution for the cassette adapter problem. I was hearing the high-pitched whine with my iPhone 4S playing to a Monster iCarPlay Cassette 800, which hadn't had this problem with my previous iPods. FYI to others, I picked up a much cheaper Scosche cassette adapter at Staples and it works fine with my iPhone 4S-- no more high-pitched whine, and while not exactly hi-fi, it does sound a bit cleaner overall than the Monster ever did.

Hi, I had the same issue with the hissing/static noise while trying to play music thru the radio in my brand new Subaru Outback. I just recently discovered a solution. At least it worked for me. I purchased a Kensington Noise Reducing Car Audio AUX Cable for MP3 or SmartPhone, including iPhone 4S. No more hissing! My music comes thru my car auxillary clear as a bell and the sound is amazing. I ordered the Kensington thru Amazon for $13.35 and for me it was worth every penny. You might want to give it a try.

I haven't followed all the other posts, but I do now have a fix for the problem. After a very helpful suggestion from someone else on a forum (have forgotten which one), I ordered this from amazon for £4.95 (ca $7)

😕

Hey everyone! I tried the Kensington noise reducing aux cable and it completely fixes the problem. Fifteen bucks.....

I did mention this to both the AT&T store and Genius Bar and they both looked at me like I was from another dimension. Again, problem does not happen when headphones are plugged in.

Wonder if the iPhone 5 has this issue?

I have a 2011 MINI Cooper S with the Harman Kardon upgraded system.

Just got an iPhone 4S a few weeks ago and immediately noticed the annoying increase in gain (hissing) while music was playing. I bought that Kensington noise reducing cable. While it might work in some people's cars/systems, it made my iphone sound absolutely terrible. I'm talking like 96 kbps terrible (and I only download 320 kbps...) Everything sounded distorted, muddled, it sounded better with the slight hiss in the background in the first place...

Bottom line, I just bought a ground loop isolator for like 10 bucks off amazon, and a nice aux cable for 10 bucks, and now everything is crystal clear.
