Q: Calendar Server Reported Error: Operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation

I have setup several Users on a MAC OS X Server Lion with the sole purpose to use their Calendar and Addressbook as repository for calendar and address information for the Mac, Macbook and iPhone and shared calendars for all users of the OD. This worked quite well for a time. It seems to have stopped working a while ago (noone realised it because the individual device did not show an obvious problem and had all the required dates), definitively after the Update to 10.7.2, but presumably a couple of weeks before. To my knowledge I did not change anything beyond applying the apple updates.

One of the clients shows the dates of a shared calendar multiple times (depending on date up to 7 times, but mostly 3 times), the mobile devices and the other iMac only once.

Upon looking at the calendars (even as Admin on the Mac Server itself) the error message displayed is

Calendar Server Reported Error

Operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation

I hope there is a solution as we lost qiute a few dates on the iPhones during update to iOS 5 (the shared calendar data are apparently not backed-up).

Everything is OK now (including October Backup).

    Do not ask me why...

I believe, starting and stopping some services again and again repaired some issues.

    Mysterious...

    Any help is greatly appreciated...

    I have followed these steps:

    (Shut down all services first)

    sudo serveradmin stop postgres

    sudo mv /var/pgsql /var/pgsql.broken

    suco cp -r /var/pgsql.pre-restore-[my .pre-restore file] /var/pgsql

    chown -R _postgres:_postgres pgsql

    sudo serveradmin start postgres

sudo -u _postgres psql -U caldav caldav

postgres starts and I get a shell with the last command but iCal is still broken. This is a fairly new server and I only have 1 pre-restore -- nothing prior to just before I installed the 10.7.2 update.

I have looked at my Time Machine backups but can't seem to find any files prior to the 10.7.2 update that are "pgsql.pre-restore*"

I have re-started the server a few times, stoped/started services, let sit for a couple days, but iCal doesn't suddenly or magically start working in my case.

If the calendar server does not appear to start, then please always post details from /var/log/caldavd/error.log so we can try and diagnose the problem.

    Thank you.

Here is the last 10 minutes of /car/log/caldavd/error.log -- and just before I copied this, I tried to go online with an iCal account from a client machine:

    Anybody? Anything?

I've disabled iCal for users, restarted, re-enabled iCal, removed iCal accounts from all clients, restarted client machines and the server -- same errors as above.

Was there a resolution to the bug that was filed with Apple?

So you caldavd log appears to show a calendar service that is running. On that machine, run Safari and try one of this urls:

    If you use SSL: https://<<yourhost>>:8443

    Without SSL: http://<<yourhost>>:8008

Do those work? If so, try the same from a client machine.

    I do use SSL.

https://<myhost>:8443 takes me a "Collection Listing" page:

    Screen Shot 2011-11-02 at 7.27.53 AM.png

    http://<myhost>:8008 redirects me to https://<myhost>:8443

same result whether from the server or client machine.

OK, so calendar server is functioning at least as far as that fron page. Now try:

    https://<myhost>:8443/principals/users/<<uid>>

where <<uid>> is the user login id of a user on the system. You should get prompted to authenticate in Safari - do so. Does that page come up? Make sure to do that from a client machine, not the server.

Yes, that page comes up as well, similar to the Collection Listing, but starts with "Principal Details" and a bunch of info about the user account.

OK, so configure an account in iCal for that user. Enter <<uid>>@<<yourhost> as the EMail Address for the account.

I get the same error with an existing user:

    The server responded with

    “500”

    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

    Screen Shot 2011-11-02 at 8.14.02 AM.png

weird thing - I made a test user account through server.app and then connected that account to iCal on a client machine and it does NOT give the error.

All of the user accounts that are on the system (for my entire company) prior to 10.7.2 update give the error.

OK, so now post the part of the /var/log/caldavd/error.log that covers that error. There ought to be a traceback in there showing what happened. Also check /var/log/caldavd/access.log to see if there is an entry in there from that client with a 500 status code.

    OK,

So the new test user I added (after the 10.7.2 update) can access iCal on client machines without any problems. Events added and deleted and it works fine.

Existing users, prior to the 10.7.2 update still get the following error:

    The server responded with

    “500”

    to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.

Neither the new test accounts or existing user accounts can access the calendar service in existing or new wikis, regardless whether the existing or new test accounts are in existing or new groups. Every time the calendar is accessed in a wiki, the pop up message stays at "Getting events from server..." -- but it never does.
