iTunes 10.5 won't install

When I am installing, it starts installing then when it says copying files the second time it pauses then says rolling back action. It doesn't give an error code it just says cannot install due to errors. I tried everything including uninstalling all apple products and reinstalling and repairing and everything else i could think of. I can install iTunes 10.4 but 10.5 won't work. What do I do?

Apple really needs to fix its updates! I've had this problem on every update of itunes since I put it on my computer (at least 3 udates ago). Why is it that every other program update, whether Java from Sun Microsystems or some podunk programmer in Eastern Europe can make updates that work every time, but Apple (and sometimes Microsoft) are the ones who can't get it right?

I see all of these posts about the same issue I am having - yet I have yet to see any input, reply or tips as to how to resolve this ridiculously irresponsible and neglected issue on Apple's part.

Has anyone been able to find a resolution? I regret ever giving any of my hardearned money to Apple when their customer support and products are obviously subpar for the high prices they demand for the products.

I noticed no oneis posting any answers to this issue that I am also having. I found that I had to install this installer first if you go to Itunes 10 download page and scroll down it tells you what installers you need to download first. Seems to be working so far and is almost done dloading.

You can try this link to get to the installer page: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427

I had this problem and struggled quite a bit with it, it was beyond frustrating!

I finally did the following to get it to work:

1) I completely uninstalled everything Apple related.. iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, etc. reboot the computer so everything is out of memory, cache etc...

2) I plugged in my apple device and installed the drivers for the device (in my case it was an iPhone), and then rebooted.

3) When started up, I got a notice that I needed to update my apple installations, from Apple Software Update, which was essentially the same thing as installing everything fresh as I had previously taken everything off my computer

4) When I ran all of the installations from the Apple Software Update then I had no problems at all. This is the key to the solution...to run it from Apple Software Update, vs downloading the installation off of the website.

I am not sure if plugging the device in first helped or not, and/or if you could just pull down apple software update from the website, but that was what I did, so I thought I had better list it.

Hopefully this works for others, as I was at the end of my rope. It appears that the download from the Apple website has some sort of glitch for Windows 7 64 bit that the Apple Software Update does not.

Good Luck!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
