not completed back up to time capsule. Receiving message cannot access sparse bundle error -1) back up delayed.
time capsule-OTHER, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
My message has now changed and I have done nothing it says sparse bundle is already in use. Anybody know if this is the next step to eventually being able to back up.
On your Mac....
Open Macintosh HD > Applicatons > Utiltiies > AirPort Utility
Click Manual Setup
Click the Disks icon
Click the Disks tab just below the icons
Click Disconnect All Users
Close AirPort Utility
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
Open Time Machine
Click Select Disk
Click your Time Capsule to highlight it
Click Use for Backup
Backups should begin again in a few minutes
Yes that fixed my Time Capsule
Thank you Thank you
Bob This was not just a helpful answer this was the correct answer.
As far as I know the solution Bob has given isnt a fix that will last.
I Have read a few replys on other topics that after a reboot it all starts again.
Nevertheless, this just needs a fix because the Synology NAS with TC backups arent working anymore.....
I have been having the same problem and it is driving me mad. It started happening after downloading and installing the latest Lion update and I see that others have been similarly affected after update installations too. I have managed to get backups working too by fiddling with all sorts of settings but the problem returns after reboots. A quick fix to restart backups - in my case at least - is to "Enter Time Machine" (which works most of the time). My Mac then sees the backup disc and backups begin. But the problem returns after reboot. Clearly this is a Time Machine software problem which is becoming widespread (though I have seen references to it as long ago as 2009) and no proper solution. Apple needs to address this.
Bob,
Your solution fixed my backup issue,
Thanks
Hi Bob
Thank you for your advise
But, unfortunally, when I restart the Mac, the problem occurs again, the same error.
Thanks
Works for some, including me, but not others. I do not know why.
I am still having the "cannot access sparse bundle error -1"
even after going through Bob's steps. We have three computers backing up to our Time Capsule and only two of them are having this error. 😕
Any help or guidance would be great!
I have two notebooks.......mac book pro and mac book air.......now have the same issue after upgrading to 10.7.2; each notebook is using time machine to back up to separate time capsules and I have the issue on both machines. Same error message as above: sparsebundle cannot be found.
Sorry,
Everything worked great until I turned it on this morning and it failed to access sparse bundle.
Julie
Hi
I've uninstalled the utility for external disk "WD Macintosh + Turbo drivers" (it ran automatically at login and it was an old version) and now, so it seems, the problem is resolved
thanks
Im having the EXACT same pronlem after 10.7.2 install.
I've tried all the apple help topics , including deleting the sparse bundle file , reformating the time capsule and also , the suggestion from Bob.
SAME THING. It works one time. I reboot, then get exacly the SAME error. iMac.sparsebundle could not be accessed (error-1).
Come on apple, I'm about to go back to the Lepard OS version @!
Hi
You could go to system preferences - users - login items and try to delete some "apps starting automatically at login", incompatible with 10.7.2
I deleted p.e. "WD Macintosh + Turbo drivers" (it ran automatically at login and it was an old version) and I resolved the problem
I hope I've been helpuf
