iPod Touch 4G Battery drain problem

hi there,

i've had this problem for a couple of weeks now, every time i switch on the wifi on my ipod touch 4, the battery drains and it switches off within 5 minutes of usage. i can switch it back on and it comes on normally only for it to switch off again with a few minutes of browsing the web or using wifi apps in general. with wifi switched off it works absolutely fine.

I've tried a complete factory resore without restoring any backups, i've tried draining the battery completely and recharging it for 16 hours straight but both didnt work.

Does anyone have an idea what i can do? on a side note, i've just checked the warrenty status and its just finished:(

You can still make the appointment at the Genius Bar. It is free except for your time. If they confirm that the battery is the problem then Apple will replace it for $79. Third-party places like the following may be less expensive.

iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens

One you know the problem then you can figure out what to do.
