Picture Date is incorrect

So, imported some photos, and noticed half have a fixed date of Jan 1st, 1980 12am!

When I looked at them in the finder, the created date were infact correct, but the modified and the last opened dates were set to Jan 1st, 1980!

How can I fix this issue?

Appreciate any tip.

My regards,

Hawi

Ignore the date creted in the FInder. This is file data, not Photo data.

Iphoto - and all photo apps - get the date and time of the shot from the Exif Metadata the camera writes to the photo. If that's not present, if it's in a worng format, or if it's damaged then this kind of thing can happen.

What's the source of the images? What date does Preview report for them?

The date created in the finder IS the correct date the photos were taken.

The images were taken with a digital camera 2 years ago, and were downloaded to an external disk. From which I imported the folder to iPhoto.

Preview does show the Jan 1st, 1980 12am date..

So, I guess they are curropted for good!

How can I find the cause?

And why just half of the images got damaged?
