My iPhone 4s phone call failed more than 50% times, some times people can't hear my voice, is there anybody else has same problem?

You are lucky. I have had my iPhone replaced 6 times in 60 days, and more then 75% of my calls fail and on almost almost 100% of the calls the quality is so bad, I have to use a land line to complete the conversation. (I can usually hear fine, the person to who I am speaking can rarely hear me). Apple blames the carrier AT&T, and of course AT&T blames Apple.

Has ANYONE RESOLVED this problem yet? I am up to replacement phone #6 today, and about 10 fresh OS downloads. As soon as I got the latest phone home, no one can hear me (or barely hear me) at the other end. Call Fail problem is likely back, but I am so exasperated, when someone calls my iPhone, I just immediately call them back from my land line. I have tried everything (I think) everyone has suggested on here: totally disabled SIRI, turned off WiFi altogether, turned off 4G, and ensured I have a fresh / latest version of IOS. What else is there? All the non-phone crap seems to work fine. But my iPhone works more like a mini iPad and is useless as a phone. P.S. I know it is not the carrier, as when I use the iPhone 4S with Viber or Skype for Internet calls, I experience the same poor quality, i.e., I can hear the other party, but they cannot hear me. Each time, I switch to my old iPhone 3G which is no longer activated with a carrier, but is WiFi enabled, and the Skype and Viber quality is perfect. So it is also not an environmental or location specific cause of the problem. ANYONE?

I had exactly the same problem. Exactly the same problem!! Ken explained it so nicely in step by step manner.

I purchased a phone (iPhone 4s 16 GB from Canada now being used with Vodafone India) which already had 5.0.1 had terrible call fail issues.

I tried various things as my device was already 9A406. Combination of switching off cell data, 3g, chaging network settings from manual to auto and what not but nothing worked.

Throughout this time my cell phone signals never got above 3/5. Ever 5 minutes my cell was showing networks but when I dialed a number, it said call failed and then searched for networks and then once done setting up network I could dial the number for next 5 minutes till the same thing happened.

When I dialed from another number to mine, it said my phone was not reachable when it was showing 3/5 bars of signal.

HOWEVER THANK GOD I FOUND A SOLUTION... and an easy solution.

JUST UPDATED TO iOS 5.1 and you are saved.. (9B179)

I assume that when this thread was created, 5.1 wasnt available so I can imagine what people facing this problem went through.

Ever since I updated to 5.1 I get 5/5 signals on the same places i used to get 3/5

Thanks & Regards to all you lovely people who contribute here.

Last new iPhone two weeks ago was upgraded to OS 5.1 the day it was announced, and the problems persisted. Two days ago I got another brand new model, and 5.1 was installed as a new iPhone in the Apple Store. Two hours later the first call I received, the same problems. Since the original post in this forum, many other problems have been posted, so to be clear, I am reposting below the original problem as explained by the author, because it is the exact same problem I still experience three months and six iPhones later: "

QUOTED: "My iPhone 4s phone call failed more than 50% times, some times people can't hear my voice, is there anybody else has same problem?"

I do not experience any other problem as many have described here, some of which may have been fixed by OS 5.1. Again to be clear: Apple engineering if you arre reading this, the original problem has NOT been fixed.
