Why is my phone talking to me?

I handed my roommate my iPhone 4s, and then the iPhone started talking out loud. All of a sudden, everything I was doing the iPod was announcing out loud. I had to double click everything to for it to work, and it was something to do with Siri I think. It was the first time this has ever happened. Can somebody please tell me how I can turn this off so my phone stops yelling at me for no reason.

iPhone 4, iOS 5

Out of the clear blue sky, mine did the same thing! Very annoying. You need to go to settings/general, scroll down with 3 fingers to accessability. Then turn off the voice.

I'm brand new to these forums. I signed on here specifically to find the answer to the above question. All of of a sudden, my phone started talking to me and I couldn't fix it. I couldn't even scroll through all the options on different screens for some reason (I wonder why?). I thought my phone was broken. I am a new iPhone user and I have a 4s. I'm now breathing a sigh of relief that I've gotten it fixed and also disabled it. Thanks for the help.
