Hi John Basso again In reply to zipman 13.

If you read my question I have stated that my in car Bluetooth device Model VM-605 is a Blackberry Product. It is sold by Blackberry and Bell in Canada. This means it is a factory item.My phone is an Apple iPhone 4 .

Before updating my iPhone to iOS 5 ,The BB Bluetooth device worked flawlessly with my i Phone 4.

However since updating the iPhone 4 They won't PAIR! .So my conclusion is the Apple has to update or correct a bug in their Bluetooth system, and I would like to have an answer from the company if this is the case . I can't afford to buy another Bluetooth device since this one is pretty good and worked perfectly before the update!

Thanks for looking into this dilemma.John Basso.

I am also having a problem pairing my iPhone 3S with Bluetooth devices since upgrading to iOS 5. My iPhone worked perfectly fine the day before I upgraded. Since upgrading yesterday I have had problems connecting with my BMW X5's built in Bluetooth. I also have a Jabra BT 250v headset. I was not able to initially connect to this device either. I tried turning the the bluetooth off and back on in the iphones, Settings - General - Bluetooth. This seemed to fix the problem connecting to my Jabra headset. It did not fix the problem connecting with my car.

Hi,

I have the same problem but I'm trying to pair my iPhone 3GS and iPad 2.

Both run iOS 5 and both devices are visible/discoverable to other devices NOT running iOS5. But they are not visible to eachother.

Before I updated there was no problem and I used my iPhone as personal hotspot for my iPad, worked like a charm. After the update to iOS 5, the problem began.

I'm sure other people must have experienced the same problems, since I'm not running unique setup.

Regards

I have reported the iPhone 4S Bluetooth connection issues to Apple as a bug. I have also schedule a support call for Thursday, 20 October. I will provide an update if anything substantive is discovered on that call.

The problems most likely are the result of a stack issue in the BT 4.0 (BTLE) code. The new iPhone 4S (which is of course running iOS5 as well) will not connect via BT to either the iPad or MacBook Pro, both of which are also running iOS5. The MBP with OS X Lion (10.7.2) can connect over BT with no issues to the iPad. The MBP will sense the iPhone 4S, but when attempting to pair the 4S displays the the error message that the MBP is not a supported BT device. This was attempted with two separate iPhone 4S devices so unlikely that it is faulty hardware.

BT is not a primary concern for tethering to the iPad or MBP because WiFi can be used for that purpose. The major compatibility concern is with automobile BT systems, many of which are using BT 2.0 code. Someone apparently forgot to properly regression test the code for backward compatibility!

Not sure I'm doing this right, I'm new to the forum. After upgrading my iphone 4 to OS5 I cannot get my oticon blue tooth interface to work. It is listed as a source and when I first dial it shows the streamer as active but as soon as the phone rings it switches to the iphone audio. The oticon is an interface to my hearing aids and I really need it. I tried to restore back to the old OS but it just keeps putting me back on OS5. This worked before I upgraded.

Sorry John, I'm just going to add to the confusion.

I have a 3GS and a Clarion FZ709 car stereo. For two years it has been a wonderfull marriage between the two. My phone never left my belt but it would switch to play my music as soon as I started the truck and calls came and went simply fron voice commands. And then came IOS 5. Now, no calls through the radio and none of my music. The phone will connect just for a few seconds then say "Not Connected" even though the radio can tell me what percentage of power is left in the phone, free space and the like. Here in Manitoba using a cell phone whilst driving is illegal and very expensive if caught. I can wait for a fix IF I know there is one iminent so "balls-up" Apple and send out a status report on the RSS feed!
