self solved

often I post a question and then persue investigation myself and solve the problem myself. If I post the solution, I cannot grade my own post as "solved" to close off the topic.

I realize that "self solving" would be a mechanism for people boosting their own scores so that a self solution should not earn anything, but it should still be allowed so that the questions do not go forever unanswered.
