Error code -35

I tried copying a file to an external 2G USB drive. I first was told "The item can’t be copied because there isn’t enough free space." How that's possible I don't know because all I have is information, data, documents on the file.

However, the file appeared on disk labeled as Zero KB and Alias as Kind with the correct file name. Now here's the problem. I went to delete it and move it to the trash and received the following message: "The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found. [Error Code - 35]

Any suggestions?
