Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!? 😟

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

It's been two months to the day now since my first call with apple about this and there is still no resolution.

I used to get an update every week to let me know they were still working on it but now I haven't heard from them for 3 weeks. In the meantime I've been forwarding all my iCloud email to gmail to get push notifications. So far that has been working well.

😢

My push email stopped working a few weeks ago. And after looking at all the threads on here, and trying everything nothing worked. I did read an support page from Apple that said rules on icloud.com could effect email on the iPhone. I'd maxed out my rules due to spam emails. I deleted all the rules on icloud.com and push email works for me again. Don't know if this will help anyone else, but it worked for me.

This solution worked for me as well. I had setup 99 rules (the maximum allowed by iCloud), and when I went in and cleared out about a dozen now-irrelevant rules, my push email started working again.

It seems silly that there is a limit on the number of rules an account can have, but this does seem like a possible culprit.

I don't have any rules either. I tried to create one and then delete it, but it didn't fix my iCloud mail push issue.

My issue is currently with the Apple engineers, and I've gotten as far as them testing different accounts and me sending them diagnostic logs. They've confirmed that it's an issue but there's no resolution yet. It's been about a month since I first contacted them.

Good luck to everyone with this issue.

My experience, today, some minutes ago.

On 3G, iPhone 4. Push not working. Tried a couple of times to send from a PC an email. No push. Worked only manual.

Close mail app on the iPhone.

Sending email again: push working perfectly. Three times on a row.

It looks like Mail, when switching from WiFi (home) to 3G (work), doesn't handle it well, as others here have suggested.

Resolved?

I was able to get a resolution for this starting last Saturday, June 29th. It took over a month of working with Apple support, and they had to escalate to various internal engineering teams.

I was having the same issue on my iPhone and iPad for several months, with push email not working on my iCloud account. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide any technical details, but they said that there was indeed a server-side issue, and they were able to make a fix for my account. And voila, it works perfectly now!

So far so good. They also said that I was the first person they saw this issue with. Meaning, your issues *may* be fixed if the same server-side issue affected your account. Without knowing the details, it's impossible to say if the root issue is the same for everyone, but hopefully this fixes some of your problems as well.

Anyways, Apple support was very helpful. Being in technology myself, I can understand that these complex backend issues can take time to resolve, especially around the time of a developer conference like WWDC.

It was driving me crazy. I always got my iPad emails (.me account / iCloud) on my iPhone 5. Then it stopped working. I deleted my account and re-added it to my iPhone. I sent tests, nothing was working. I went on to icloud.com from my laptop and my mail was there, it just wasn't pushing to my iPhone. Started messing with my settings...and voila!

I went into Settings; Mail/Contacts/Calendar, hit the iCloud Account, turned on Mail. I turned it off before because I thought that having that on meant that my mail would store to iCloud and I needed to save space. DUH! If I want my mail from my iPad on my iPhone...obviously it needs to go to iCloud. Blonde moment!!!!!!

Paulmeyers42,

Could you paste your case number here so that I can have the engineer look it up. Myself and several others are having the same problem, and I have been working with apple support for a week now and they haven't gotten anywhere. In fact I have gone full circle with a new senior advisor and starting from scratch. Really needing help here. Thanks.
