Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!? 😟

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

As someone sais, seems a problem related to ios5, since on all the other devices the push works. When i'm home, my mac receive new mails on the fly, while the iphone not. I'm out of home all the day usually under 3G coverage: today morning i had no problem receiving mails, but i lost all the email of the afternoon and till now they didn't start to work again. They were all on the server. No idea how to force again the push to work on the iphone, no idea why suddenly it stop working!

Still no look with the push mail from iCloud, HOWEVER if you set up an account on your iPhone using the imap settings as below, this doe work but you need to turn mail off in your iCloud settings in order to still use Calendar and Contacts without getting the error message re. mail.

The settings that work seem to be:

Add new email account not iCloud use 'OTHER'

Enter your address and password and select Manual Setup
Imap
Imap server is imap.mail.me.com
Security SSL
Port 993

Next

Outgoin settings
SMTP server smtp.mail.me.com
Security none
Port 587
Require sign in ticked.

Good Luck!!!!!

Hi,

I think that everybody around the world got the same issue, iCloud push mail sometimes doesn't work.

Not acceptable! So, these could be possible reasons:

1)

iCloud sometimes is out of service ?

2)

Is it an e-mail client bug ? (Push only in background mode ?)

3)

Before iCloud I got Mobile.me and I was sutisfied, it was perfect. Problem due to lots of users (Mobile.me + free users?

I hope Apple will provide soon...

Annoyingly only fix i found so far is to 1) put it on Fetch or 2) delete the account from the device and reinstall every time it stops pushing.

Does anyone from Apple review these discussions threads? very surprised (annoyed, disappointed) that nobody for AAPL has actually come out and acknowledged the problems. I tried two factory restores and ne outright reset and short of wasting 3 hours of my life... nada

Hello, I've also been experiencing the same problem with push mail not working after I migrated my .me email to iCloud. I hate to say it but 3 days of blackberry outage and intermittent problems seems trivial compared to problems encountered from day 1 launch of iCloud.

Can anyone from Apple comment on what is happening to resolve this issue for mobile me customers?

Thanks.

Seems to me like there's some kind of problem in iOS 5 that is causing notifications to not be received correctly, or at least erratically - I've noticed that sometimes they come through in a timely manner, sometimes I get notified hours later, other times I don't get notified at all and have to actually open Mail, or Facebook, or Skype, or others to see what messages are sitting there.

In my experience, Apple typically does not comment on the scheduling of bug fixes, etc. Rather we'll just see an update that corrects it one day when it is released. The only workaround that I've found in the meantime that's even half-reliable is to identify your most important apps that you need notifications for and try to keep them open in the background as much as possible. I've noticed that apps do receive notifications somewhat more reliably if they are running in the background, though the behavior is still erratic.
