Jan 19, 2012 8:55 AM in response to BostonJ81by Pinaboy,I did try it, was not hoping for much though.
It did NOT work on my iPad2, on all 3 mail accounts on it.
Sorry, but I do not think this is the fix we intended.
Where is APPLE!!!!

Jan 19, 2012 9:25 AM in response to Chrisdf28by ACC7,No, this is not a fix. All of the suggestions listed on this thread have been very helpful, however, they only provide a temporary fix. Rather than going through a bunch of steps, you can simply turn the iCloud Mail slider off for about 30 seconds, then turn it back on. The emails will start pushing again, albeit temporarily.
Another fix that has provided a decent amount of relief (about 4 days of pushing emails) is to reboot the phone. Other than that, all the suggestions - while very much appreciated - are not permanent fixes.
I think everyone just has to keep posting so that APPLE will FINALLY DO SOMETHING!

Jan 19, 2012 11:08 AM in response to ACC7by craydoh,I spoke with an AppleCare rep about this problem and wanted to post the substance of our conversation for everyone's general info. In a nutshell, don't hold your breath for an Apple "fix".
The rep stated that Apple does not consider this a "known issue" because iCloud push works for the vast majority of users. She described the problem as "relatively rare" (she gets iCloud push-problem-calls "only once or twice a month") and described them as solvable on a case-by-case basis with a focus on each individual user's iOS 5 device and settings.
In other words, Apple believes the iCloud push problems are varied and lie within our devices and settings. So there is nothing to fix but me, you and our stuff.
The rep then suggested that I check settings on all computers and devices, then reset my iPhone 4.
When I indicated that I had done this and achieved only a temporary fix, she graciously offered to sell me an extended AppleCare policy for my iPhone 4 (mine expired 60 days ago) so we could delve more deeply into "my problem."
She also suggested that Apple doesn't necessarily monitor these boards for issues because tens of thousands of AppleCare calls each week more or less do that for them.
These are all loosely her words, not mine. And while she was entirely distant and unhelpful she was not rude or deliberately insulting. And of course, she is not an Apple spokesperson and her words may not reflect Apple's views. But the call sucked, and rather than wait for a "fix" I think we should keep at it.

Jan 19, 2012 11:18 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby lsjrlsjr,Honestly, this is ridiculous. It's more than widespread if it's affecting this many people. There are so many complaints on forums, blogs and on Twitter.
I know it's a pain in the a**, but maybe we just have to keep calling and reporting the issue over and over. Or contacting via the FastLane chat.
Maybe post on blogs like Macrumors, Gizomdo, AppleInsider, etc. and try to get it escalated that way.
Temporary fixes are not adequate.
This is so unlike APPLE. I wonder if Steve would've let it drag on this long.
They have fully admitted to me in the past that it's an issue with the iPhone/iPad and iCloud so I don't understand why they're not all on the same page.

Jan 19, 2012 4:39 PM in response to lsjrlsjrby ACC7,OK, I'm gonna jump in here again. Yes, this is ridiculous, and I agree that this is more widespread than the rep in "craydoh"'s post says it is. Here's what happened to me...
I have called Apple customer care, I have worked with techs on the chat site, and then I was escalated to a senior advisor. I want to make it clear that he has been GREAT and very responsive, but after months and many, many tests, there was no fix. Apple authorized a new phone for me, because after the extensive testing I think they figured the phone was bad. I went to the Apple store, they gave me a brand new phone and set it all up for me. I was overjoyed... for about 5 hours until the NEW PHONE also stopped pushing.
So, if the problem is "relatively rare" (according to the rep above), then what are the chances that a brand new phone would have the same problem??? Is that just a coincidence? No, no, no, Apple is having a major problem here and they need to figure it out!
I have written to Apple headquarters that I received a response to. It came after I got the new phone, so the letter merely stated that they acknowledged that I got a new phone and they hope that the problem was resolved. I am considering sending a follow up letter, accompanied by a print out of all 20 pages of this discussion thread. I would also like to send a copy of this to the CEO. Does anyone know his/her name?

Jan 20, 2012 12:28 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby phil_a,I have go t so used to it NOT working that I have forgotten how it is to have Push mail.
For example, wake up in the morning, pick up the phone, no email inbox badges, open mail, select the Inbox and then the mail arrives.
During the day, I have to open the Inbox in order to receive the mail.
A bit of a rediculous situation to be honest.

Jan 20, 2012 1:29 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby au92wde,Just a repeat of pretty much everything else has said in order to add my name to the list of people with iCloud email push problems...
Both my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 work fine receiving email pushed from my Gmail account (set up as Microsoft Exchange on both devices)...always have. The iCloud email push has never worked consistently on either device since I first set it up in October.
After a reboot, both my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 get iCloud emails pushed to them just fine. Then late in the afternoon, iCloud push just stops working and I have to reboot again. Both devices always have to be rebooted in the morning to get iCloud push email working. Like everyone else, I've tried EVERY suggestion (and every variation of those suggestions) from the forum and elsewhere and have yet to find a permanent fix.
As was discussed in earlier posts, I also tried setting my backup Fetch schedule for every 15 minutes "when Push is off" (assuming that truly is the backup for when push is down, not just off). That didn't work either because (I'm guessing...and this may have been discussed in earlier posts) maybe the iPhone still sees Push as being ON...it doesn't know iCloud Push has stopped working so it doesn't fall back to the Fetch schedule.
My family members and friends who have an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 have this same iCloud email push issue...regardless of carrier. It definitely seems like more than just a "relatively rare" issue.

Jan 20, 2012 5:11 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby craydoh,I've had iCloud push working on my iPhone for 12 hours now. It's way too premature to call it a fix or even a workaround, but here is how it came about:
I went into Notifications Center. I tapped on "Phone" and was surprised to discover that I had no banners or alerts selected. Could be this setting changed when when I migrated to iCloud. I advise yoyu check your Notifications Center if you're unsure.
I switched on "Alerts", turned off my phone and turned it on again. Within 30 minutes, push was working.

Jan 20, 2012 6:07 PM in response to craydohby ACC7,Craydoh, I did something similar a few weeks ago.
In the Notifications Center, if you go to Mail, make sure that slider is turned on as well. I had noticed that when I scrolled down to where it says "View in Lock Screen" that my slider there was off. I actually tested sending myself emails with View in Lock Screen off and on. When it was "off" I received no emails, and when it was on I did receive emails. You may want to check that out as well.
Initially I was thrilled because it worked for a couple of days, but, unfortunately, push stopped again. Sorry, I didn't mean to rain on your parade.
-
Jan 20, 2012 6:16 PM in response to ACC7by craydoh,Thanks, ACC7. I assume also that you did this testing with either Banners or Alerts selected before if finally stopped working?
If push works just a couple of days, at least that's longer than my previous temporary fix.
Good luck to all.
-
Jan 20, 2012 6:21 PM in response to craydohby ACC7,Yes, banners or alerts were selected.
I have found that all of the aforementioned "fixes" are inconsistent in their longevity. Sometimes one particular fix will last 3 days, but sometimes that same fix will only last 5 hours the nex time. There is no rhyme or reason.
Let's keep at it, and let's keep calling Apple so that they will help us!

Jan 21, 2012 6:59 AM in response to ACC7by dnair,Folks,
I too have had this fiasco since iCloud migration October 2011.
Just noticed after turning notifications on for mail, an email came in that produced a banner but NO mail app badge!
I have both badges and banners turned on in notifications.
I believe the mail app is crashing not allowing push emails to arrive. I've started to close my mail app frequently, via double click home button and so on.
Try that approach before resetting and rebooting...etc. you'll find that if any emails are in the cloud, once you close the mail app, as above, within seconds they will 'ding' away!
