Q: Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!?

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

Add me to the list of people who are experiencing this problem.

I have the problem on an iPhone 4 and an iPad.

I have tried the fixes mentioned and some of them work for a short period of time, but never permanently.

I am also one of those people that migrated from MobileMe to iCloud and think that may be connected. I have a .mac apple ID and .mac and .me email addresses. I seem to receive more notifications if email is sent to my .mac address then if it's sent to my .me address, so this may be related.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else that has both a .mac and a .me address on the same account sees the same behaviour.

I have reset, restored, turned off wifi and tried on 3G, deleted icloud account and re-added.   It will work briefly after a restart or if mail is closed down. Then after a short period of time, it just stops. I have never had a problem until now. I didn't want to say this, but I may have to go back to Gmail and use exchange.

Sorry for my english. The same thing has happened to me. After read a lot of thread and blogs, I called apple care, and here's the solution that has worked for me. I hope it works for all of you too. It's very simple. You have to go to mail, contacts, calendars, and in your accounts tab select icloud and be sure that mail is on. Then go back and in the tab fetch new data must say push. Get into fetch new data and inside at the bottom where it says advanced get into and there must say icloud push. Finnaly and here's where this problem is resolved go back to fetch new data and where it says Fetch you must select EVERY 15 MINUTES and after that this problem goes away. ¡¡¡Just selecting every 15 minutes!!!. It works for me and was the solution that apple care gave me. I hope this resolved this problem for everybody.

Same with me Jon. Ever since migrating from MobileMe to iCloud my .mac email can arrive 2-3 hours after originally being sent. The frustrating thing is that it's intermittent. So my 'push' email can work fine and I get messages as and when they are sent but then other times I only get my mails when I go into the Mail app on my iPhone and suddenly a bunch of messages arrive (all with different time stamps). I originally thought it could be something to do with T-Mobile as I changed from O2 when I upgraded to a 4S last year but it now seems as though these are purely Apple and not carrier-related.

Unfortunately I began to have the same problem ofter exchanging my iPhone 4S into piece and restoring it from the cloud the email push functionality of my me.com account. I haven't been messing up with any settings of iCloud or email so I don't think anything else could have caused this.

Have you worked any solution for this?

Test didn't work for me! :( Still having issues. Tried everything, and push will work fine for a while, but always reverts. I do think it has something to do with moving from wifi to 3G as a few other people have mentioned.

whatever work around, reset, reboot, hard kill app....etc...we accomplish does NOT fix this issue.

This is a rubbish product.......a huge failure! Jobs was not happy with mobileme's execution, from what I heard and it appears he was right.

I've had this failed product since migrating in october 2011, from mobileme. Can you imagine if Blackberry had push email failures for 6 months on going?

Apple should use some of that 100 billion dollar cash to hire people who can fix this problem.

Have been in contact with Apple engineers representatives for some months now. Zero solution and often being told "the engineers are working on it".

Being a shareholder myself, I am concerned that they are designing and manufacturing very elegant and beautiful hardware.....BUT.......cannot provide quality engineered software that is supposed to JUST WORK.

    Jony Ive........pass

    Icloud team....HUGE FAIL

P.S Push email is not new. Gmail, Hotmail, BBerry.....etc..... all have it working. How is it that Apple cannot. What is Apple doing wrong?

My push has been working better lately, I did not take any actions to improve the functionality in any way,

    but it's still not 100%

sometimes I can open the mail-app and it will suddenly get new mail from hours ago

so it's better then last weeks but there still seems to be a problem.

I agree.  Although I appreciate the effort, I don't need a 10-step process to trick my phone into working properly.  I just need apple to give a rat's ______ and fix this.  There's no way it requires months and months to fix this when it takes them a mere 3 months to roll out whatever upgraded/next version of product their working on next.

I think we may need to picket in Cupertino.

[Apple removed my rant so I had to edit this and get to the point]

My problem: Push either works on my iPad 3 or my iPhone 4S, NOT both. It works on whichever one was restarted last. It's the most re-tarded thing I've ever heard of. I'm thinking to return my iPad 3 because I am so frustrated that it has been years since this problem and NO ONE in Apple cares about this problem. You just deny the problem just how you did with the iP4 antennae problem. Well now there's a class action lawsuit for the antennae problem. Seems like the only language Apple understands is legal jargon!

Genius bar is no help, all they do is deny the problem and tell you to restart it. I don't want to restart my iPad and iPhone 20 times a day just to get push email you idiots!

After spending $8,000 in products over the last 3 months I am a very unsatisfied customer and I am not alone! Read your community forums -- this problem has been going on forever!

I agree we need to picket in Cupertino. Fix this problem AAPL

    ^^^

    Agree with this.

iCloud is a step backward. If Apple admits the problem, they will be forced to figure out a fix. That's the real reason they deny any problem exists. They don't know how to fix it. I sure they wish they'd left well enough alone.

I am unable to receive email on icloud or mobile me with any type of attachment. User ID and passwords are all scrambled up. Inbound mail servers are a freaking mess, and it's been getting worse for months.

Where is IBM when I need them?

It's not just mail, either .....

Just noticed today that in my iCloud contacts list, all the addresses are truncated! Each line of the address shows, but only the first few characters, followed by "....". On my iPhone4, they appear fine, so I know that the data is good. So what's with iCloud not showing the full address? Anyone else seen this?
