Mar 30, 2012 4:39 PM in response to mricciby sonictonic,That is not the solution for me either, Mike, sorry.
Everything is logged in and set up correctly. Like many here I've tried all the voodoo. Only way to get it to push reliably? I have to force quit the app after each use. Annoying and frustrating and I can only hope with all this noise we're making ont he forums, someone at Apple is paying attention. All that money in the bank you'd think they can get a few people to handle an issue like this.
Neeeeeeeext.

Mar 30, 2012 5:24 PM in response to sonictonicby ACC7,I have posted here many times, and I have to agree, there is no permanent "fix". The only temporary solution is to quit the Mail app after each use, as SonicTonic (and others) described.
Since October, I have worked with no less than 5 Senior Advisors. One tech said he was able to re-produce the problem - he was quickly taken off of my case and replaced by someone who then denied the issue! Is that crazy or what?!?
Long story short, I have yet another Advisor working on my case, who seems to be responsive.
I was asked to download an "iPhone Configuration Utility" to my computer, which I have done. He asked me to do the following: 1) hook my phone up to the computer as soon as Mail stopped pushing; 2) send a few test emails to myself while the phone was hooked up to the computer; 3) document the date & time; 4) save the "logs" as a document; 5) email the document/logs to him.
I have done all of the above, and now I am waiting to hear from them. Supposedly, the logs should show them when the phone stopped pushing - and maybe why or what caused it.
It has NOT been easy getting to this point with Apple! We all know the issue is not with our devices, the issue is with MobileMe/iCloud. It would be easy for me to give up and just wait until they figure it out, but I am fighting this on principle at this point! I am crossing my fingers, and I will keep you all posted.

Mar 30, 2012 9:31 PM in response to ACC7by dnair, icloud email execution is RUBBISH!
Get this fellow victims!
I have added a hotmail account to my iphone, therefore running icloud and hotmail (mail only) setups. With the phone connected to the hotmail push server, I have ZERO problems with push me.com email! ***!
Have done much troubleshooting with this...ie....hotmail off, on....etc. Can say that the hotmail account seems to keep the connection to icloud push email "alive". Again....***!
Running with icloud only, I continue to experience failed, intermittent push email (me.com). Turn the hotmail slider on, bingo bango bongo (Borat style ) me.com pushes without fail. Did I say *** already!
BTW, I do not actually receive email into my hotmail account as I do not use its address. This account just sits on the phone "alive".
Anyone willing to try this configuration and get back to me.

Mar 30, 2012 10:09 PM in response to Impaler80sby stuart thomas,I agree Impaler80s.
I have been posting here for a while and have noticed this problem months back too.
I have recently noticed that when I go to send a mail (on iPad), where you have option to send from an alias (I have original mac.com address with aliases set up years ago -not sure this is possible for newer me.com addresses??) - one of my aliases is now available ONLY as a me.com as is my main address. My other 3 aliases are available as BOTH mac.com AND me.com as they previously had... WHY? STRANGE!!

Apr 1, 2012 1:16 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby Byke,My .mac email account which had previously been working on iCloud, has been done for 3 or 4 days and is only accessible via non mobile browser. I want to contact apple, but they don't allow me to email them without a special membership ..... Which is strange as I am a paid up full user.
What's worse is I have an iPad which technically allows me to be able to email them as I have time left on my ownership warranty ... However it was recently replaced and it seems my new device hasn't been carried over.
Anyone know how I can email apple iCloud outside of their stupid web form?

Apr 2, 2012 3:04 PM in response to Bykeby ohneSchatten,Well, my short-lived "victory" proclamation around Push was premature and hardly a victory. After a few days of Push working again for me (after a 2 to 3 week hiatus), it's now back to "normal". Normal meaning Push went fishing starting yesterday. *** !! {Necessary expletive censored}

Apr 2, 2012 11:10 PM in response to ohneSchattenby Byke,Well I was on the phone to Apple 4 times yesterday and after 2 hours I was able to speak to the right person.
I have now officially reported the problem, but the mail behaviour is very odd.
And I didn't get the feeling that Apple knew what the problem was as "all seemed fine"
I am having more luck getting my mail now, even though I still get a lot of refusals for having the wrong password or username? And I can't access many folders. Mostly the inbox.
But the big cruncher for me is I have been loosing mail.
Yesterday I had an email I was able to check through the browser at iCloud.com ..... I logged out and went back to look at it an hour later and it had disappeared ? No sign of it in the rubbish bin either?
Something is really screwy with the whole thing.
I think part of the problem with the yesterday mail is it was sent to myname @ me.com , whereas my usual email is myname @ mac.com ..... And I think this is the reason why this mail has gone missing as there may be some issues on many levels including that of handling for differnt domain extensions.
As for push mail .... I have been having problems with it for months.

Apr 3, 2012 8:53 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby TimtheRockstar,IOS 5.0.1 was working fine.
IOS 5.1 does not push.
Tested with Google, Google Apps Mail (server m.google.com) (setup as exchange in iOS)
Tested with Exchange Server
None of those configurations push mail.
Total failure on Apple's part. Maybe Jobs did something after all...or at least the revisions were not so buggy with him not dead.

Apr 3, 2012 11:46 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby Perry Clark,I'll join the ever-larger chorus of disgruntled iCloud users. I've had a mac.com email address since way back when, and went thru the MobileMe era and have now found myself in the swamp known as iCloud mail. Took me a while to realize the extent of the problem, but in my defense, it's not always easy to note something that works some of the time. The final straw occurred when I asked the local Apple store to email me a receipt, and, when it hadn't arrived a day or two later, called and asked that they re-send it. Another day, still no receipt. Re-sent again after I called again, and it finally got through whatever morass of ethereal computer confusion we're wrestling with. But closer attention revealed that there are way, way too many instances of items simply not showing up.
Now, to further confuse matters, I'll mention that there have been a few instances in which I happened to be watching my Inbox when mail downloading was occurring, in which I see a message momentarily listed in my Inbox, only for it to be gone--vanished, without even a suggestion that there might have been the most fleeting whiff of its existence on the device. This has happened on both MBP and iPhone 4S; have not seen it yet on new gen iPad, but wouldn't be at all surprised.
Various weak efforts to fix have come to naught. Long discussion with Apple support rep found him confused, clueless, and unwilling or unable to recognize this issue as something other than my personal ineptitude. He insisted that the problem must reside with my selected settings and installation on the devices. All three of 'em. This in spite of us reviewing said settings, etc. He suggested deletion and re-installation of mac.com/me.com account. Tried it, didn't seem to have much if any effect.
This is very frustrating, as I'm wanting to use these long-standing email addresses (primary and a useful alias), but this service is completely unacceptable. Mail that works 80% of the time leaves me unhappy all the time.
Are most (or even all) of us having this intermittent mail downloading issue migrants from MobileMe? Has anyone successfully introduced Apple support to the problem? Do they acknowledge its existence? In a word, is there hope?

Apr 3, 2012 11:59 AM in response to Perry Clarkby ohneSchatten,Talk about unreliable and intermittend. Push is back from lunch both in my MBP (running on 10.7.3) and iphone 4 (running on 5.1). Yes, Perry, I too have seen messages disappear from my Inbox before my very eyes before having a chance to open/read. Disconcerting. I have also witnessed messages disappear from my MBP Mail inbox BUT fortunate to catch it in my iPhone's Mail inbox, if for a little while, long enough for me to read it. But afterwards it too vanishes from sight. I also went a while back thru the process of deleting/re-establishing my me.com acct. By the by, I was never on MobileMe and am new to Apple's cloud scheme.
Another unrelated point. When will Apple allow us with an @me.com account as our Primary Email to assign it as our Apple ID, so that both text strings are one and the same?

Apr 3, 2012 2:31 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby Clifford Stevens,Apple has a problem here - it would be nice if they would own up to it. For months and months, push has not worked for email on my iPad or iPhone with iCloud. It is simply BROKEN. NO PUSH. EVER. Same with my wife's iPhone. Push never, ever works with iCloud email. This has been going on for what - a year, and Apple does nothing.
Now I just read in this thread about creating a hotmail account on the phone, and then POOF, everything works. GREAT! Guess I will use that until Apple gets its act together on this one.

Apr 3, 2012 2:33 PM in response to dnairby Clifford Stevens,This worked for me - setting up a hotmail account. Thanks! Too bad Apple is incapable of a real fix.

Apr 3, 2012 2:43 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby UKMackid,Well, on a slightly more upbeat note. My push is now working again on all devices. I haven't done anything at all.

Apr 3, 2012 2:49 PM in response to UKMackidby jimmypowder,It won't work for long .There is no real solution that works permanently.Apple needs to fix it. my iphone
today is back to no push though it pushed fine this morning. my ipad never seems to have a problem(WIFI only)
Interesting. My iphone started having problems when i went from my office wifi to 3g in the car and then back to wifi automatically at my house. All of a sudden .no push on my iphone. Im telling you the switching is creating a problem. No doubt in my mind. There may be other bugs but this is a big one.
