Oct 23, 2011 3:18 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby Simon Turnill,I am in the process of migrating from an Exchange server to iCloud - everything is now transferred EXCEPT for mail - delivery of mail is unreliable using push delivery, and until this issue is resolved, I will be keeping my mail on the Exchange server, where push delivery works perfectly to the iPhone.
Disappointed this isn't working properly at release.

Oct 23, 2011 3:21 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby johndh1501,Still not working for UK customers, this really is becoming a joke, plus NO word from Apple about a solution!! All iCloud work except the most vital bit email!

Oct 23, 2011 9:23 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby rczurek,My solution: Settings>Notifications>Set Apps (By Time)>Not in Notifications Center (Mail).
Turn on Notification Center>Alart Style (Banners), turn on Badge App Icon, Shiow Preview, View in Lock Screen, then exit.
Mail will now push and the number of emails will increase in the mail icon on the home screen.
iPhone 4 with iOS5, MobileMe account converted to iCloud, AT&T carrier)

Oct 23, 2011 10:05 AM in response to rczurekby pre4ch4,I already had this settings. But there are still problems with push. Normally it works, but especially after deactivating the airplane mode, push doesn´t work immediatly. I always have to kill und restart the mail app. When the Mail app doesnt run, push doesn´t work anyway.

Oct 23, 2011 10:10 AM in response to pre4ch4by rczurek,Sorry to hear it doesn't work for you. Great solution for me until iOS5.1. I guess you will have to continue you search for your configuration.

Oct 23, 2011 11:14 AM in response to rczurekby Rich5481,There is no real solution for push email not working. its a bug in the os and apple is aware. Bug reports have been sent to apple through the developer program. no matter what temporary solution there is, it will still revert back to email not pushing.

Which is why I didn't follow the solutions listed on the thread. After my initial post mine started to work again without me making any changes to the settings. It seems to be an intermittent problem that Apple needs to sort out.
Sort of like Siri not seeing the network a few minutes ago.

Oct 24, 2011 6:56 AM in response to marcwiegelmannby alexbird,I just wanted to tell you something I noticed. We all know the push email has been working sporadically, but I noticed that sometimes when I close apps from the multi-tasking bar at the bottom of the screen that disables the push email. It doesn't do it everytime, but I did find a pattern that somtimes after I do that it does mess with the push email.
I have to relaunch email and try to somehow kick the phone back into action again. I do want to mention that when I am closing the programs from multi-tasking that I do not close the mail app. This problem happens while closing programs other than the mail app.
Hopefully that sheds some light for someone.

Oct 24, 2011 2:07 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby PhantomSoul,It seems this is a bug in iOS5 and with all apps that use push notifications - not just mail - where if an app is not running in the background, meaning you don't see its icon in the bottom strip when you double-press the home (square) button, it will not receive any push notifications, and they consequently will not show on the phone unless you actually start the app first.
I'm sure Apple is already aware of this, and maybe even patched it, but unfortunately for us, it looks like we will have to wait at least until their next update release of iOS5...

Oct 24, 2011 2:52 PM in response to PhantomSoulby alexbird,Hey PhantomSoul,
What other apps have you noticed the push notification problem in? Were they apple apps or apps from another place? I haven't noticed that so I'm curious to know if I'm having the problem too and just haven't noticed.

Oct 24, 2011 3:02 PM in response to chipfievby Starstreak007,I can't speak for him, but I know the iCal and Mail apps bothe need to be open to receive pushes. I can't get pushed mail to my me.com account unless I keep the mail app running in background. And the iCal app needs to be running to receive any updates from iCloud. I can send a psh calendar event from pocket informant with iCal closed. But it won't get anything from iCloud unless the iCal program is running. The moment I open it, iCal updates from iCloud and pocket informant gets the updated info. Again, it seems it's only receiving issues from iCloud.
