Q: Push email does not work (iCloud)

Since the update to icloud the push email does not work anymore. Im only talking about the me.com adress no Yahoo oder other Emails. I didnt changed the Mail settings and pushing mails worked fine before the update to icloud.

Example:

When i switched on the phone in the morning the mails i received during the night immediately got pushed to the iphone. That doesnt work anymore. It only receives the mails when i switch to the mail app.

Any suggestions anyone?!?

Im using newest iOS 5 with an iPhone 4S and migrated my old me.com account to iCloud.

I'd like to add my voice to the chorus of users that now have consistent PUSH Mail via iCloud.  Very happy with iOS 6!

Then maybe the previous poster should articulate what they are trying to convey.

The technical level of competence on this thread is that of a retard idiot with brain damage.

"Now it works" is great, just hope you don't have to rebuild the entire phone on the iOS6 update, like basically half the users have had to do.

The fact remains that for almost a year this has been broken, a function that worked, was broken for some reason (which the MobileMe issue had nothing to do because it affected people without MobileMe accounts), now with a brand new iOS it works.

This is like buying a car, that runs out of gas, but you cant put gas in it for close to a year. But now, you are all ready to start sucking each others di cks because you can drive your car again.

The fact that people are actually happy a problem was fixed through lack of any support from the manufacture is the specific reason I will be replacing my iPhone with an Android device.

After iOS 6 update I still got same push mail issues.

So, I called Apple Support and asked for help.

    Solution was simple...

    - Reset my 4S (home+top right button)

    - Disabled my home wifi

Now over 3G push mail works like a charm!

I got issues with my LAN, my Netgear DGN2000, it filter some packet.

If you have same situation try to check your LAN firewall log file, and open port 5223.

Still the same problem with iOS 6 running on iPhone 4G, in Sweden with 3 as the provider. The whole company running different iPhones same provider has the same problem.

Well, since iOS 6 It is much better.

With iOS 5 I tried the workaround described above with deactivating push, restart and reactivating push. That worked. Not perfect, but improved a bit.

I have an iPhone 4, was registered in Germany, moved to Switzerland (Orange) and was also a paying MobileMe customer.

I did nothing special. Just upgraded to iOS 6 using a backup.

iOS 6 here now, and still does exactly the same.  Got an email on both my phone and computer (which, strangely, has always worked).  Read and delete from the computer, and always shows unread until I launch the mail application and it updates.

And yes, Gmail ALWAYS works flawlessly.  I don't see why they don't just use the Exchange protocol like Google did and make it work.  I mean, sure... it's Exchange, which pretty much *****... but at least the mobile stuff works.

Push has been working for me since I upgraded to iOS 6.  I am cautiously optimistic that the problem is resolved.

However, now my Calendar entries are not syncing   Is anyone else having this problem?

If so, I would appreciate hearing suggestions or learning about another discussion thread.  Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem as you! Push just works witht the incoming messaages. If you do somethign with it on your computer, it never gets updated until you open the app on the phone

It used to work! I don't know exactly when it stopped and iOS 6 didn't fix it!

My $0.02.  It has been a long time since I posted, but iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 did fix my issue.  I upgraded to the iPhone 5 a week later and it is still working.  Good luck to everyone else.  I feel your pain :-/

I, too, feel your pain.  Like I mentioned earlier, I had practically NO Push Mail when I migrated to iCloud.  That was for about 11 months!  But iOS 6 fixed it.  And an iPhone 5.  Or something fixed it for me and it I'm just extremely grateful.
    Wishing you luck!
