Oct 24, 2011 3:16 PM in response to alexbirdby PhantomSoul,I've noticed it in iCal and Mail as well. Also the Facebook app, as well as many of the 3rd party social networking apps I use - I've noticed all of them need to be opened in order to receive Push notifications.
@rczurek - yes, all appropriate notification settings are turned on. If this was not the case, I would imagine that I wouldn't even receive push notifications when the apps are running.

Oct 24, 2011 4:15 PM in response to PhantomSoulby Starstreak007,Ok just got back from speaking to an apple person. She said something called springboard is crashing and that controls the push. She said the when I upgraded my iphone4 to the 4s and I restored my data, it was corrupted.
That could be true as my 4 was JB.
She said I need to do a hard reset and setup to use phone as new and not to use a previous restore. She said my calendar and contacts would be fine BUT I would loose all my app game scores. :( I want this to work but I was told once I set my phone as new, I would loose the ability to do a restore from an old backup.
Is anybody having push issues whos phone is from a clean install?

Oct 24, 2011 5:02 PM in response to Starstreak007by oblackwidow,I restored from my iPhone 4 (I'm using the 4S now)
Funny thing is the email notifying me of your post actually pushed to my iPhone on its own. First time it's done that in days :/

Oct 24, 2011 5:05 PM in response to oblackwidowby Starstreak007,Maybe mail app was in background? Mine receives pushes as long as I keep the app loaded.

Oct 24, 2011 5:28 PM in response to Starstreak007by oblackwidow,I don't think so I never close the mail app from the multitasking bar. Also I had to go into the mail app to get the email that you had posted again it didn't push this time. I was waiting too hoping that it would push again or even fetch after 15 min on its own. I really hope that apple gets this worked out as I run a small business and most of my customers contact me via email.

Oct 24, 2011 5:53 PM in response to oblackwidowby Starstreak007,Sounds like your issue is a bit worse than mine. But. As I said in a previous post, I can get fetch to work as long as I turn off push. Mind you this is only talking about @me.com account. I believe my gmail push works just fine.

Oct 24, 2011 6:02 PM in response to Starstreak007by oblackwidow,I must have missed that post, I'll have to try setting mine on fetch and see how that works. My gmail doesn't have an option to push its fetch only. My yahoo account and my @me.com account both do not push.

Oct 24, 2011 6:10 PM in response to oblackwidowby Starstreak007,Wait, your gmail doesn't have push or you didn't set it up? I thought all gmail can be set to push. Just set it up as imap. I think there's a tutorial somewhere.

Oct 24, 2011 6:24 PM in response to Starstreak007by oblackwidow,I guess I just didn't set it up for push I didn't know you could do that. Setting it on fetch worked at least for now. I can't believe I didn't see your post for setting it on fetch I thought I read all of the posts whoops :) thanks!

Oct 24, 2011 6:35 PM in response to oblackwidowby Starstreak007,Well, I hope it stays working for you. Fetch that is. :)

Oct 24, 2011 6:37 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby danddn2003,When I got my iPhone 4S, I started from scratch. I didn't restore a previous backup. I'm still having problems with mail.app. I don't get new mail pushes, nor does it fetch email as per the settings I setup.

Oct 24, 2011 6:48 PM in response to Starstreak007by oblackwidow,Well it's worked twice in a row now fetching and push never worked twice in a row. Thanks again!

Oct 24, 2011 7:23 PM in response to marcwiegelmannby Velgor,No joy here. iCloud push is not working on my iPad 2 nor my new iPhone 4S on WiFi. 3G seems to work with the iPhone though. Have tried everything possible. One thing I've noticed, my iPhone has been logging lots of errors involving WiFi latency, though it hasn't been an issue with connectivity for me. Feels like an iOS 5 bug.
