Ringtones not showing on Itunes

Please help - never thought it would be so difficult to get a decent ringtone on my new iphone4. It's more difficult than any other phone I have had. The phone itself is great but surely copying a ringtone should be easy ??

Firstly I have created some ringtones in ringtone maker, copied them to a file on pc as per instructions and then tried copying them into itunes. When I copy or import these it seems like they copy across but they are not shown in the library and when in itunes under ringtones nothing is shown. The file extention is .m4r which i believe is correct. Have also tried renaming the ringtone file name as someone previously suggested.

I have version 5 of the iphone software and the latest version of itunes software on my laptop. On itunes when the phone is connected it does not show "ringtones" along the top menu (you know the one that lists summary, info, apps, music, etc.). Ringtone option is shown down the left in itunes but as I said no ringtones are shown.

Have also went into settings under sounds and ringtone but nothing shows.

Hello there,

you are not frustrated alone!

I called Apple to help me on this question. I have search allover the internet for the answer. Apple customer service told me I had to pay $35 before they would help me, because I have an over waranty phone. But my phone is fine, it is the iTunes. If I knew this problem I would not buy a ringtone song through iTunes store. I ask for a refund for that song, they said they can't do that. I said well then forget about my iPhone (it is working fine), help me with the iTunes because I already pay for the song. They said I had to pay $35 for any help.

Now I know the answer: "*** Apple" I have been buying musics from them since one of the first IPods came out, now I will never spend a ***** for them. My phone contract will be ended this Jan. 2013, I will change my phone to other product – *** iPhone too.

wow haha... if you don't want help don't go bashing before being open to suggestions but i guess osme people are more happy being mad...

there are countless free apps that allow you to make a ringtone out of a song and send it to yourself via email then check that email on computer-download that file to computer- drag it to itunes library - click on your device in itunes once it's connected - click the tones tab - check sync tones- and badda bing your tones will be available on your iphone under sounds in settings.

-itunes store does not let you redownload purchased ringtones which is why i recommend the above option.

-other than that you may allready have the tones on computer just go under the tones tab after you've clicked on your device under the word devices in itunes on computer and make sure sync tones is checked - then you can click sync - resolved

cheers

First off- when you create custom ringtones with non-apple made application, you cannot expect apple to know the solution to the issue when the app was not even made by them.

Second if you dont have applecare on your device, you have 2 paid option for OVER THE PHONE technical support- applecare (if you are still in your 1 year warranty) OR a 1 time per issue fee which is 19 dollars not 35.

Do you have the ringtones saved on the computer ? yes ok fantastic so dd that folder to your itunes library by going to file or edit> add to library>locate your folder, and click ok.

well you applied to the original posters issue which is different from your issue, and youve basically turned this whole thread into your issue. if you bought a ringtone on the computer- these cannot be synced to the phone. you have to buy the ringtone from the phone.

you can contact itunes at expresslane.apple.com click on itunes>itunes store>downloading> go from there and ask them to allow you to redownload this on your phone.

If that is simple, why couldn't they help me over the phone, to be a good customer service? or direct me to someone responsible to the iTunes software support. I am sure I am not alone. Or make sure the issue will be resolved. They blocked me from go any further question, by saying that would be $35 to help. Just simply tell me to go to some developer that responsible to this issue.

because the advisors you talk to do not work for itunes. they can direct you to expresslane, the itunes website, or they can sometimes do a chat with itunes.

And frankly my dear it depends on your attitude. You catch more flies with sugar then vinegar. Be nice to them- they get paid very little money for dealing with upset and rude customers all day long.

How do you know I had an attitude to the customer service? Did you listen to the conversation?

I get pay low as well myself, but I still have to do my job, every dollar counts for me when I spent. If they can't do their job, they will be kicked until they do it right. this complain surely get the attention to the services that they are providing.

The original post was from more than a year ago, no one even bothered to reply, now I scream, you are on the their defence – good, that is what Apple deserved!!!. You must be paid by Apple. Instead of doing right they pay more for people like you to make them look good.
