Compress QuickTime Videos to Email

Hello all,

I was wondering if someone knew how to shrink a video so I can send a video via email. I have a video that it approx. 18 mb and I would like to shrink or compress it so I can send it via email. I uploaded the video to .Mac and it works if you go to my Homepage, but I was wondering if anyone knew how to shrink it to a smaller size so I can send it via email. Thanks for the help.

QuickTime Pro has a "Share" feature that has "Presets" for email settings. Depending on your server (.Mac has a 10MB limit) and the recipients email server (most only allow a few MB's) your file may not "shrink" enough to meet these limits. Plus it will clog many mail apps while the file downloads.
Why not just send the "link" to the file in the email?
Or, using QuickTime Pro, send a "reference" movie in the body of the email.
Open the remote version (your iDisk) using QT Pro and use the Save As menu to place a copy on your Desktop. Check the box to save as a reference movie (not set as default). Drag this new file into the body of your email and it will play back the iDisk version (requires an Internet connection obviously) when your recipients view it.
