How do I put together all clips? (MPEG Streamclip)

I put in a film in my computer from my Sony DCR-SR55E video camera that is in MPG.
(It is filmed on a two weeks vacation and is in 1172 files, each clip in one file you know.)

I have tried to make all clips into one in MPEG Streamclip but then it gets strange, all of a sudden it is too fast in some places of the film and the audio is out of sync.

Is the settings in MPEG Streamclip wrong?
I choose Export to QuickTime … and dosen’t do anything else, it looks like this:

The Compression Type needs to be set to match an FCE Easy Setup.

The current one is incorrect to work with FCE.

Is your camera PAL?

The DCR-SR55E records standard def 4:3 MPEG2 video. In MPEG Streamclip you should convert the clips to QuickTime, selecting the Apple DV/DVCPRO PAL codec (compression) and the DV-PAL frame size. (Assuming your camera is a PAL camcorder.) In FCE select the DV PAL easy setup before importing the converted video.

The camera also has a 16:9 mode but it is not clear from the DCR-SR55E specifications whether that is anamorphic DV or simply cropped DV to make it look as if it is 16:9. If you used 16:9 mode you will have to do some experimenting to see what frame size settings work best in MPEG Streamclip when you convert the video.

Do not use the Apple Motion JPEG codec - it is totally the wrong codec to use.

PAL is a video standard as is NTSC.

FCE needs to know what basic type of footage it is going to deal with. This is why a user must select an Easy Setup/Sequence that will work correctly with the footage that will be edited into it.

We will assume you are a PAL user.

Sorry, I meant to say Apple DV - PAL, not Apple DV/DVCPRO PAL. There is no "Apple DV/DVCPRO PAL" selection in MPEG Streamclip.

Look in the manual. Sweden used the PAL TV standard until late 2007 when it switched to DVB (a digital standard). However your camcorder is probably a PAL camcorder if you purchased it in Europe.
