change order of email boxes

Hi everyone,

Hope you can help me with this.

As i lost everything with the fabulous OS5 (contacts, pic, settings...) i need to put my 4 email boxes back in.

I don't know why but for some reasons, my gmail box always goes first, and i want it to be second.

I've tried many many times by deleting each box, change the order and i can organize (as it was) the right order of theses email boxes.

i've also tried to integrate 1 box then sync, then add a new box, then sync... but it does not work.

My gmail box always comes first.

Do you have any tips about it ? I see that the OS5 changed the settings of mails (simpler and shorter) but it's really annoying.

I guess no one knows how to do it...

As far as I can recall, the order of mailoxes is set by Apple. If you have a MobileMe or iCloud account, I believe it is always on top. If you have a GMail account (setup using the GMail imap settings) it is right below the MobleMe/iCloud accounts, If you have Exchange accounts, they are at the bottom of the list. If you have GMail setup as Exchange to support push, it is at the bottom of the list along with the other Exchange accounts. Lastly, "other" accounts seem to be placed in the order they are created.

All of this assumes you are doing the setup on the device itself. If you are syncing from iTunes, then the order may be slightly different, but still very similar. The man differences here are in the order of the "other" accounts. I wish there was an easy way to re-order accounts, since I have about 25-30 email addresses I monitor on my iPhone, so I would like to be able to group them so that I can scan a group quickly, but alas, we live with what we have...

Before i lost everything on my iphon i had : 1 hotmail 2 gmail 3 hotmail 4 exchange.

For my devices that did the OS5 upgrade fine, i kept the same order.

For my new empty iphone, i can't make the same order and i tried many many times.

Gmail always comes first, exchange goes at the bottom or top and same for hotmail.

As i sync with a PC (i know :-) i can't set my email from my computer before doing the sync.

That would be a really good point to think about that.

This is so wrong... iCloud always comes first for me and why the f* would I use iCloud mails when eveything's been on Gmail for so long... This is such a bad move. And by the way thx GeekBoy for bringing a proper answer took me quite some time to find one !
