iPhone 4s can't connect to itunes

My new iPhone 4s can download updates to previously installed apps (brought over from my old iPhone), but it cannot download a new app on my iPhone 4s. I get the "cannot connect to the iTunes store" error message whenever I try to download a new application. Has anyone else had this problem and overcome it?

FIXED! Going to Settings ==> Store ==> Signing Off ==> Signing back in using my Apple ID associated with the iTunes credit card fixed. I was previously signed in using the Apple ID associated to iCloud (____@me.com).

Before iCloud, I had the Apple ID, myname@verizon.net, for connecting to iTunes. When I signed up for iCloud, I was forced to create a second Apple ID, myname@me.com, which is the default ID the iPhone 4S was using for connecting to the iTunes Store. However, iTunes does not recognize the Apple ID, myname@me.com, because it is not associated to any credit card. So, once I changed the Apple ID in SETTINGS ==> STORE on my iPhone 4S back to the iTunes credit card associated Apple ID, myname@verizon.net, I could connect to the iTunes store. You cannot connect to iTunes if you don't have any credit card or bank account link to your Apple ID.
