Anyone else noticing Safari opening old pages on forums? While visiting several of my daily forums today, I noticed it loading pages that were from my visits last night or yesterday. I'm pretty sure I cleared my history last night, so it must be reading some invalid cookie data?
If you want to look for this, pay attention to forum pages that load possibly after you post. I noticed this twice on two different forums.
Anyone else having this happen?
I am having a similar problem. Since updating to ios 5, Safari is loading dated pages when using the back button. For example, when a newspaper site is loaded and then an article is selectedand read, upon using the back option, I am taken to a version of the paper 1-3 days old. Any ideas for a fix? Never had this problem until after the ios 5 update.
Okay. Good to know it's not just me. I wasn't only getting it with the back button, but returning to a forum index produced the same result - even if clicking to get there from the post I had just made. And yes, I never had the problem before ios 5. I haven't tested it on the iPhone, but I will try to watch that over the next few days. I hardly use my iPhone for that anymore, but it'd be nice to know if it is iPad related only. (doubtful)
I just wanted to add that simply refreshing does correct the issue, but this is definitely something that needs to be looked at.
Same issue here. I read sites like Gizmodo, Engadget, etc. daily, and have noticed that when I read an article and then go 'back' I'm getting an old page. I have to reload the homepage to get the current site again.
yes did you try settings>safari>clear cookies, cache, and history.
Well, I know there were two replies; but of course, when I get here, they are not here. Ugh.
Yes, of course I cleared everything through the settings. It doesn't matter. It's obviously an error regardless of whether I want to chunk cookies or not. Besides, I really don't want to kill all my cookies all the time. 😉
Still no other feedback on a fix. HHappening on iPhone as well. While clearing cookies etc works, it is a temp fix and like you I don't want to dump all cookies every day...too much of a pain. Can't believe Apple has not released an update.
THIS IS THE WILDEST THING I HAVE SEEN YET!!!
Earlier this morning (at 9:05am), I replied to a post on a forum FROM MY PC UPSTAIRS.
Later today (at 12:36pm), I was back on that forum FROM MY IPAD DOWNSTAIRS.
I read some threads, and at a point, I backed up to the forum index.
IT SHOWED AS IF I HAD JUST POSTED the comment (from 9am) 19 SECONDS EARLIER!!! (meaning, the page looked like nothing had happened on the forum for nearly 4 hours) There had been HUNDREDS of posts/replies/threads during that time.
REMEMBER, THIS WAS POSTED FROM A SEPERATE LOCATION AND SEPERATE DEVICE COMPLETELY - A PC EVEN!! I was on a DIFFERENT device many hours later. From two seperated devices that aren't connected in any way, shape or form?!? The iPad was downstairs charging.
How is that even possible?!? Can anyone even come up with a guess on this one?!? I haven't got a clue!!
I am experiencing same issue, safari uploading old pages in newspapers such as new york times in my iPad when using back button. Kind of confusing and disorienting! Takes me a few seconds to realize that I am not looking at the freshest most updated business news but at something that is two to three days old! Apple should really fix this bug!
Same problem here. Very annoying, as i read newpapers then use the back button to return to the frnt page after reading an article, only to get an expired page from days ago!! clearly a bug with Safari and it's back button and cache. Only started with ios5. Would love to know what the fix is.
Same thing for me, but on my Mac Mini with Lion and Safari 5.1.1.
My guess is that it has to do with the iCloud update (some Safari fixes was announced).
I was not running iCloud on the PC yet.
Yes this is maddening. Hopefully Steve Jobs left one shoe from his collection to each developer, so they can give themselves a swift kick in the rear when something likes this happens, and hurry up to rush out the fix.

I am experiencing the same problem on my MacBook Pro. Running Lion 10.7.2, Safari 5.1.1.
After reading a post on HuffPost, using the back arrow brings me to a page that is 4-5 days old. Refresh fixes it, but it is really becoming annoying. I have cleared the cache, several times, no fix. I deleted all the cookies related to HuffPost (where I am observing this bug) but no fix. I am hesitant to delete all my cookies, as I do a lot of banking/research online and this would delete all stored passwords, login info, etc.
I'd greatly appreciate a fix or aknowledgement from Apple on this.
