Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Can you try it with the BT on (without being connected to handsfree just ON) and clean recent calls? Thanks m8!

This is absolutely ridiculous! What kind of PR department do apple have? Seriously.

Funny thing is, Everyone on this forum paid a lot of money to get an innovative technology that is supposed to be flawless. Turns out it's not and people are more than willing to "wait" until a relase fixes this.

As a customer, no one should wait for anything. The brand should offer the best product and if not it should be replaced without any questions or "Fixes".

I officially have lost all loyalty towards Apple. Not just because of what is going on with the phones but for the way the company is handling the situation.

To Ahmed221. The thing is that Apple as gain us enough respect, as a brand, as an innovative company, as a disruptive and game changer manufacturer who decided to invest a lot of money on technologies, "softwares" and "hardwares" that made our life better! At the end of the day everyone knows that there is no such thing as a 100% perfect solution, in whatever area of our life. As human beings we are not perfect, so why should the product of our minds be? This may sound a little poetic and even a cliché, but that's a fact! Apple customers are willing to wait for a fix? They don't mind to pay for a product that is not perfect (knowing it afterwards, of course ) and still defend the company. That's one of the strengths Apple have right now! We are not customers! We are fans. And fans are unconditionally loyal (until a certain point, I know, but I believe Apple is quite far away from that break point and will do their utmost to keep being away from it).

As I have said before, just return the phones.  I was convinced it was software, too, with my first three phones.  Then, I took a chance and got a fourth one.  It's worked fine with no problems whatsoever.  I don't really see the need to discuss the issue on here as Apple is reluctant (or perhaps unable) to remedy the problem.

The "fix" is simple--keep returning the phone until you get a good one (as ridiculuous as it may seem).

Just restored my 4S as a new one in iTunes without even enabling Siri and the audio bug is still there, so disabling Siri won't help(at least in my case it didn't).

I am with FIDO. Although I have been quite happy with FIDO for a number of years, they are limited in their smartphone offerings. Hence, my first iPhone purchase. At first I loved the iPhone. That lasted 2 weeks. Then the "no audio" problem started. It took a few calls at first before I realized the issue was with the iPhone. I've had the phone for 2 months and I am VERY FRUSTRATED with it. When I make an outgoing call, this problem happens 97% of the time. I have to keep apologizing to people I call so that they don't think I am doing it on purpose. I am SERIOUSLY considering getting rid of it. I should have gone with SAMSUNG but I wanted to stay with FIDO...now I'm not so sure... If APPLE doesn't fix this ASAP - I will NOT be a loyal brand follower. I shouldn't have to waste my time replacing the phone over and over until I get lucky enough to get a phone that WORKS. For those that have done this 3 times or more, kudos to you for so much patience!

Had I seen reviews about this issue before I chose the iPhone, I NEVER would have selected it. I would have gone with Samsung (my original choice, however FIDO didn't offer it).

I had the **exact** same issue with a 4S purchased in India (factory unlocked).

It was so frustrating when your phone can't reliably make a phone call...

Took it in, and walked out with a new handset.  Touch-wood the new one seems to be ok!!

fyi:  the apple guys did a restore etc. - but none of that helped.  Looks like some of these handsets do have a hardware issue.

At this time, I believe that the audio issue is hardware related. A friend of mine and my sister have a 4S and both are using it without any problem.

I have a Genius meet on saturday: for 659€ I WANT a perfect device, no more discussion.
