I'm from Bulgaria and I have the same audio problem for outgoing calls. My carrier M-Tel refused to replace my IPhone 4S. They said me that it will be taken for test and repair. I found that in my country Apple don't have repair service. I don't know what to do? Probably I should send back the phone to Apple. My first IPhone and I'm so disappointed. Please Apple tell me what can be done in this situation because obviously in my country the phone can not be replaced.
I'm from Belgium and have my 4S 16GB now almost a week and have the same problem too. When i hear nothing i can click on speaker and back on speaker and then it works. When i'm using my bluetooth connection in my car it changes sometimes by itself to speaker but they can hear me.
Should I go back to the store and ask a new one?
thanks for the advice.
i'm from romania, iphone 4S, ios 5.0.1 (9A405), bought 3 weeks ago from a local carrier. sometimes when i make calls i don't hear anything. if i comute on speaker and back it works fine. somebody on this forum said to plug a headset in and out and try. i've done that, but then my microphone stopped working and all my incoming calls turned on the speaker automatically - my phone went crazy. it's a MD235RR model.
any advice ? thanks.
not being a douche just being realistic, trust me i live in Mexico and we dont have apple stores here i had to make long lines in my careers office then they took my phone for "repair" which obivously they couldnt because apple demands the carreer to return faulty phones and give brand new phones thats their policy so once again im not being a douche just helping you out, i know its pain some peple have to wait weeks but theres no use having a faulty phone with a work around fix.
EVERYONE here paid A LOT to get this "amazing" phone unless you think money is trash then i cant argue about that but some of us worked our ***** all day to pay a phone like this and WE EXPECT IT to work like it should and if it doesnt then its OUR RIGHT to demand a replacement.
I have bought and iPhone 4S from TMN (Portuguese carrier...) and i had a full restore on iphone and still have this audio bug. Sometimes i have to turn on and off the speaker to hear and sometimes the mute is stucked... I think this is not acceptable to a 600€ phone... Where is the perfection and passion that Steve Jobs show us before???
At least Apple should say something about it...if it is a software bug or a hardware bug... Some reports say that apple is not fixing it on the latest beta of ios 5.1 (beta3)...i don´t understand if siri is a priority when compared to give a phone the simple function that is making normal calls...
Hope to hear something from apple..i do not want to return the phone...
Actually I had the same problem as many users As I bought my iPhone in Belgium I just put my iPhone to Mobistar then 5days later I receive a new iPhone now the problem is solved so for Belgian people who bought their iPhone in Mobistar you can trust on their service!
I saw also that on the report it's written that the default were:
- Rx/Tx- cant make
- Rx/Tx- no service/ emergency calls only Sw
- Sim card check card insert sim
Well I don't really understand that but I think it can help some people to understand the real issue?
Got an iPhone 4s 64gb from an Apple store in Italy. My iPhone has the same symptoms I have read in this topic. Already called the Apple support, they say I can have a black box one from the Apple store where I buy the phone. But I'm going to wait for the 5.1 official update and if it won't work then go for the black box iPhone. I don't like the idea to pay for a new phone and get a second hand one!
I have been following this mammoth thread of dissatisfied customers for three weeks. [Last week I got a black box replacement at the Apple store in Boston, and haven't had any audiogate problems since.] My impression is that there is now less resistance by Apple and client sellers to replacing the hardware which seems to solve the problem almost all the time. So there must be a known hardware issue that Apple can fix. It also seems that the majority (but not all) of the users who adopted 5.1 OIS, especially B3, were successful. So, there is a software solution. But Apple hasn't released 5.1 yet, so there must be other problems they want to avoid in the next OIS. What are they? I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.
The update to 5.1 beta 3 not fix the issue.
I tried, as Apple care suggest, restore to factory set , changin' SIM, and more and more: nothing! Then, i asked the replacement to my company (H3G Italia) and the new one works fine, from the first call.
Over 200 calls, no one faulty.
I think there's a defective 4S iphone lot: don't wait to fix with new sw... Replace it soon
Here are the facts, so you make the decision as to whether you want to exchange for a replacement
1) Many of the people (including me) went with the hardware exchange and the problem went away
2) Some of the people had to go through 4-5 exchanges before finding a replacement which had no issues
3) Some used the 5.1 beta 3 patch and fixed the audio issue, but some DID NOT.
4) Many of the iPhone 4S owners NEVER experienced this audio issue
Based on the information above, my assessment is that this is indeed a hardware issue which could be fixed by a software workaround.
After my experience, I would highly recommend just taking your phone in or send it in for a replacement. It's nice to finally have a working phone without all the silly workarounds.
Today I went to Orange Romania to recieve my iPhone sent in service 1 week ago with outgooing calls issue. They did not replaced my product, instead they restore my soft and sent'it back saying it is ok. But offcourse it wasn't ok.
After making 6 calls (in the Orange shop) the issue has reapeared. In conclusion I sent'it back in service and ask them express to replace the product. Now I wait!
bgd83 is no logical explanaiton.
As you may know or you are about to find out , replacing the product, at least at Orange Romania, is not possible without sending the device in service. So you have to wait at least 1 week as I did.
Untill Apple says something about this issue ... no carrier is abble to replace the product instantly.
