Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

I will say this, the trick of toggling the speaker button on and off works for me as long as the BLUETOOTH is OFF!!!! I hate this because my car has bluetooth and it really, really messes up after i make a call using the bluetooth in the car. When i use my blue tooth headset, it does it as well after a couple of calls and i have to turn my phone completely off and back on to clear the problem. This is truly unacceptable and apple should be ashamed for not fixing this. My wife got one of the first 4s shipments and she does not have a problem at all with hers.

I faced the same problem in India. All workarounds (like turning speaker on and off) and typical reset tasks did not give any sustainable result. Got the phone replaced at the Apple Service Center. It has been 3 days since I got the new phone and, touch wood, no problems so far.

    Guys!!!

I really can not understand those of you who still complain on OCNA issue?!

Several people including me have reported that the THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED via restoring to 5,1 b3

The installation is as simple as restoring any of the official firmware.

The link has also been provided.

The problem for me is that it did not solve my issue.. I still have no outgoing sound despite the outgoing sound being registered in other apps, just not in phonecalls.

DNK, it's great that the problem has been solved for those who have installed the 5.1 beta. But the 5.1 beta is just that - a beta - and we shouldn't have to download beta software without official Apple approval just to get these devices working correctly. If 5.1 fixes the problem, Apple should finish up the beta and release it now so that everyone can download and install it normally. Unfortunately, based on past beta timelines we could have a month or two more to wait before Apple officially rolls out 5.1.

Tell me pls, what is the principle difference between beta version and the official one?

Apple takes care or responsibility for the official ones? Then why we all have this f@cking OCNA issue with the OFFICIAL 5.0.1?

Moreover, the beta is version 3! This means that it has been already developed to a certain level BY APPLE!

5.1 is also apple's soft. it's NOT custom made. Apple provides it to the customers who are registered as developers.

Earlier I metioned the reasons why I think apple isn't realising it. I think it has nothing to do with 5.1 potential problems or that it is not ready for official use, but defenetely it's all about launching new product and recent 5.0.1 jailbreak fact

I had this issue with two phones, and then also my wifes.  Then I found the 5.1 beta 3 and loaded it.  It fixed all problems and has been solid for 6+ weeks.  Since I'm not a developer, I was recently forced to fall back to 5.0.1 on both phones, and guess what, it's now acting up again.  It's a software bug.......

I had the same issue with the first install of 5.1 Beta3. After going back to 5.0.1 and then reloading 5.1 for a second time all problems are gone and the phone works flawlessly.

Thought I was loading 5.0.1 of the latest, but was 5.1, only available to Developers.  My wife's phone was disabled with a message that said "this phone is not registered as a Developer phone".  and it stayed on that screen.  I had to put the phone into DFU mode, then do a complete restore, reactivate.  Oh, and the backups done in 5.1 were not compatible, so she lost 30 days of her updates, texts, contacts.

Today I treid to place a call after finsihing one.  BT was off, I was using a wired headset.  Tried making calls, and while it appeared the calls completed (counter begin), I couldn't get earpiece, speaker, or the phone speaker to work.  Trying to change the options, didn't make a difference, was like I was on a dead call.  Very frustrating issue to have, and has been so since the 4s came out.  I am confident that 5.1 beta 3 has fixed it, whether intentional or not, it makes the phone usable.  Right now, it's a piece of junk if I have to constantly power off to make and recieve calls.
