Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Iphone 4s....same problem as many others.

On about 1-in-5 outgoing calls, the call timer starts and it appears the call has gone through, but I hear nothing: don't hear it ringing...don't hear the other person...nothing. I usually hang up, make the call again and everything is fine.

I got my new 4S two days ago and have already been noticing problems with the audio on calls although it seems to be worse than much of whats been descirbed here. On about 1 in every 5 calls, incoming or outgoing i get absolutly no audio and the person on the other end of the line can't hear me either. i've tried toggling speaker phone and mute as they seems to be the most common work arounds but it has no effect, I haven't found anything yet that can fix it other than just hanging up and redialing, sometimes a few times before the audio comes back.

upgrading to 5.1 fixed for me. touchwood!! haven't seen that problem after the upgrade.

Can't believe, I had to try hard to convince the apple genius bar support staff on this issue when this was so prevalent over their support forum. They would not acknowledge this was even a problem. They simply beat around the bush with their arrogance and suggest me that it was ATT problem with network or blah blah.. when i proved them the speakerphone trick would fix it.

But I could give them lot more suggestions and how to test some of these features. I feel Apple's QA team is bad and so their customer support at Genius bar. I can do better testing and give out more appropriate customer service.

I'm from British Columbia, Canada with an iphone from Telus.

I got the new iphone in Decemeber, and have intermittently gotten no audio on incoming and outgoing calls. Also, sometimes I have gotten an electronic sounding audio that is tough to explain on outgoing calls for the entire call, including the ring and the receiver's voice. I have not gotten it checked by anyone yet.

I upgraded the software to 5.1 when it was released, though this morning I recieved two calls in the morning with no audio, not sure if the caller heard me or not, and I didn't have caller ID until today when I finally complained to my provider about the price.

I'm from Sweden, my workphone is totally silent. No audio from earpiece nor headset. Have tried everything, resetting phone, turning up volume to maximum, hitting the speakerphone, nothing works. It is totally dead and we'll send it to service/for a replacement today.

The thing I can't believe is how Apple somehow does not address the issue and tell their customers something about this problem. It's like we does not even exist. They get rich over their customers and somehow don't even care to answer all these 169 pages of customers having the same issue.

    BAD Apple! BAD!

Ok here's one..  if I have my mic's audio drop out during a call, I can bump my phone against my lap and usually the mic will begin working again.  Something loose?  I used a can of compressed air recently thinking maybe something is lodged in the mics.. but no diff.

So basically the only resolution is buying a new phone?

If you've updated. Restored from backup. Restored as new. Yes.

Either purchase a new device, or take it to the Apple Retail Store and have it exchanged under warranty (if it's still within it's first 12 months, or covered by the AppleCare Protection Plan, and has no physical damage at all), or pay the Out of Warranty service charge (if it's beyond first year and not covered by APP, or has physical damage)

I've get my iphone 4 fixed in local  phone service shop.

Now working fine, and I have no problem with outgoing calls.

    Cost - 25£, time 1,5h.

Not really so keen on Apple Store service which is 170£....
