Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Same issue on my 32GB AT&T,about 50% of my outgoing calls. Usually toggling the speaker fixes it. I don't know if it related but yesterday I couldn't  get the phone off speaker and no one could hear me. I had the iPhone, bluetooth and speaker options showing but selections didn't work. Even rebooting didn't fix it. Finally I had to do a restore. Since then no issue with audio. 'course it's only been a day.

Same thing is going on with me. I thought it may be a problem with my carrier until I found this thread.

I replied earlier that although I am still having the static and echo, I have not had the no audio happen on my new Second replacement. I spoke to soon. Just happened again.

I have a 4s 16gb white. I have the same issue and it is increasing. I noticed today that I could turn the speaker on then off to hear it in the headset. After that, I decided to search the forums. I had this happen today to two different people in a row. I don't know if I am putting it to my head to fast for it to mess up or if it is a random thing.

    I had same issues:

    1. the phone randomly would default to the speaker with no audio (this would happen more when the phone would be connected to my car via bluetooth). Changing to phone from speaker would not work - it would be stuck on speaker

    2. sometimes it would count seconds as call is connected but neither I nor other person would hear anything,

    3. sometimes would drop the connection and it would say "searching" for a minute or so....

Went to apple and they replaced the phone. Replacement works perfect, no issues, so I assume the first phone was defective...

Also, not sure if it is connected with the problems above but new 4s  would not work at home on 3g network, or if it would work, speed test woud show lattency in 2000ms with download/upload  0.1kb/s. I even took a video next to old 3gs which would have internet connection and have 200kb/s down speeds. Not sure now what is a problem - 4s or att new network... Not a big deal as I use wifi at home, but I see a problem where wifi is not available....

This is starting to REALLY get on my nerves.  I stood in line for this phone like other people and everytime I call my wife I have to do it 2 times cause I can't hear anything on the first try except my own voice in the speaker.

I have an appointment on Friday at the Apple store but I have a funny feeling they will not have any in stock to replace my phone with.   Apple needs to comment on this and tell customers what they plan to do to fix it.

I understand that nothing is perfect and that there will be bugs but I expect a company like Apple to step to the plate and tell me what they are going to do to fix this.

Had this problem for 5 calls or so over the last few weeks; assumed it was AT&T, but glad to hear more of us are experiencing it.  Hopefully they can fix via a software update, so I'll wait it out.  Same symptoms as everyone else here.

Experiencing exactly the same issue, 1 in 5 calls I get the no audio bug, have to end the call and try again, really annoying!

Count me in on this problem also.  Pre-ordered Verizon, black, 64GB, iPhone4S.  Happens about 1:5 calls, but seems to really come in "bursts" (i.e. fine for several days, then terrible for a few hours).  I'll try the speakerphone toggle trick that others have mentioned and report back.  I don't see any relation to Siri use or to my BT headset.

+1 for this issue on iPhone 4S, Australia, with Optus.

    TOTAL RECALL
