Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

I'm still testing the siri off stratagy.................Apple I use my phone for many professional calls, I can't have my clients saying hello 15 times and not hearing me respond!  Very annoying.

DAY 22 of this thread, according to Apple this issue doesn't exist, add to that Mashable, Engadget, TechCrunch, CNN, HuffPost, NYT, etc...

The only ones who picked up the story are Macrumors and Gizmodo (also very late.)

I contacted every possible tech writer and editor on those blogs/media outlets, all the same people who write about battery problems and Siri down problems, basically giving them a bloody scoop and nothing...

In the meantime Apple continues to sell millions of iPhones unencumbered, for a company with one of the largest market caps on the planet, they are getting a pathetic amount of scrutiny.

Well - 24 hours into restoring my 4S and then setting up as a new phone using iCloud sync for my data.  Did a hard wire sync with itunes for apps and music.

So far so good.  Out going calls working

Have read many answers here and I also think that many users are not aware of the problem their phones has. I also noticed this nly after one day and first thought it must be a providers problem.....but than I searched the web.... Was yesterday with Applecare in Germany again and they suggested to return the phone. A bit of a pain for me because I am working in Maldives and had a friend visiting me who brought the phone from Germany.....now I have to send it back and I am unsure to purchase a new one if I read all the replies here where people got a replacement phone which still had the same problem.

The woman at Applecare was very friendly and she said that she got "a couple of calls" for the same problem.....it is clear that they are not allowed to speak openly.....

My call was transferred to the sales team in Ireland and there they told me to return the phone I eather I get a new one or they reimburse my money......

Apple really need to clarify this issue and let the people know what happend!!!

I went to tha Apple store today for my Iphone 4s 32gig and the told me that there is no need to switch as Apple knows about issue and it is not a hardware issue but software and that Apple will fix it with an update in the next few days. They told me that I can go there anytime and that they will switch it for me. Today was the worse I have experienced.

This absolutely is a real bug.  It happens to me several times a day and it has been driving me and my callers crazy.

It is also happening with Sprint's phones. So tired of hearing "hello" over and over. My phone also has a strange tin can sound when this happens. Waited a long time for Sprint to get the IPhone. I can impress my friends with Siri's quirky answers, but I can't make a simple call.

Just got my replacement from Apple and so far I cannot get it to malfuntion.  I was getting the no audio problem as well as the static in the earpiece problem.  Both of these seem to be fixed at this stage in the replacement.

However I did notice two new issues.  The OS seems more sluggish on the new one.  The first was lightning fast but this has shown lag a few times.  Also it has the rattle noise problem when you move or shake it gently that others have reported.

The screen looks a little better in the new one though, more blue in color.  I still have both as I did a express replacement.  Definitely a difference in screen temperature.

Overall not all that happy with Apple quality control....

I sent back the first 32gb for sim issues and I don't want to send the second back because of outgoing calls..... I really hope to have this bug fixed in a short time!!

    Same here.

    Launch day 32Gb in black.

Restored, reset network, removed and cleaned sim, siri off, turned on & off many times(!), still silent ougoing 1 in 3 calls.

May see if software update helps, but I've a feeling it will be going back....

ohhh.. boy... initially i thought my problem was one off and its not apple's problem. Atleast now I can clearly blame them. But the replaced phone worked for me, but only on reading this thread, I understand that I was just lucky there. But it spoiled my first iphone experience and made me look like an idiot among the friends. Cant make any phone calls. How annoaying is that ? And not a single communication from apple in this regard. Now I understand I am truly an idiot to buy into apple, especially when there are superb android phones out there.

But 750 bucks + another 100 bucks in software and games...... I am stuck in this
