Q: iPhone 4S - Outgoing call no audio

Picked up a Verizon iPhone 4S - 32GB and on about 1 in 10 calls I get no outbound audio when dialing.  Call shows the timer counting as if the call is progressing but absolutely no ring back and cannot hear the party on the other end when they answer.

Anyone else having this issue?  I've found a few forums online stating people have had luck hitting the speaker button on and off to get it working again but it hasn't failed in the past 20 minutes for me to test that theory..

Thanks...

Hallo, my name is Marko , i am from Croatia, and yesterday i have purchased the new iPhone 4s in our local network T-MOBILE, ali i have the same issue !! So disappointing. But here's an interesting fact : i have purchased my FIRS iphone 4s in Germany in apple store and it was not locked in any network, it was network lock free and the iphone works just FINE, not showing any problems with the outgoing call speaker sound. Then i sold the network free iphone and purshased the T-mobile iphone 4s and very from the first day every 1 of 5 calls i can't get sound in the speaker... i can't hear the person i have called !!! i need to call the person again, and if i have luck i will hear him....

    APPLE pleeease fix this problem....pleease.....

sorry about my englesh it's not my first language....thanks

I had an iphone 4s delivered for work, took it out the box, ran through the normal set-up, then when completed rang my land line and no audio, switched between speaker and audio back. Phoned again, audio out, repeat process, audio back. So, this is my personal phone and now the work one with the issue, still no comment from Apple!

Having same problem with not being able to send sms messages or make calls, after a hard reset all ok until it happens again and again !( 16gb white 4s on O2 in the uk running 5.1 ). Only way to get good battery life is to switch off wifi until needed and then switch off again, should not have to do this to conserve battery life !! ( this is with location services off and setting time zone off ) and if wifi left on then battery will only charge to 96%.

Upgraded from 3gs and in the queue on the first day, not happy with 4s as should just be able to switch on and NOT do any tweaks and get good battery life, that is what a new phone should do, always loved apple but not happy at present!!.........Apple please address these issues or lots of unhappy customers when they are due for upgrade next time.

BGR just posted about a static issue and made reference to the "no audio on outbound calls" issue being discussed in this thread.

    here is the article:

Is there any mention of a fix for the outgoing audio in the release notes for 5.1?

This is interesting and hopeful... Back on pg. 48 (Yikes!) of this thread, I mentioned that when I upgraded to 5.0.1, the problem on my wife's phone went away. It's been 18 days, and we still can't get the phone to duplicate the problem of muted calls - which it DID have on 20-25% of outgoing calls and was easily reproducable. I've made DOZENS of calls on it to test it and can't make it fail.

My point is that, at least for some iPhone 4s handsets, maybe there IS a software fix. I'm still debating what to do - my 30 day return window is up TODAY - not that Best Buy has any 32g white AT&T phones anyway!  - but I guess I should be happy it's working. My wife's happy (except for the fact that when she synced her phone to her Windows XP machine running Outlook, she lost all her calendar data), but I'm nervous that as soon as the 30 days is up, the next call will fail and off we go. Nah... couldn't happen!

I wonder when 5.1 is going to be released to the general public...

    Larry
