CW-8123-C Compatibility?

Forgive me if this question is answered elsewhere - I did an exhaustive search and cannot find a definitive answer.

I have a friend with a PowerBook G4 1GHz. I believe it is model A1010 and as near as I can determine, it has a factory installed Superdrive, Apple part number 661-1804. The superdrive died a couple of months ago and he bought an external firewire DVD burner to use in the meantime. He would now like to purchase a less expensive combo drive to replace the superdrive. I believe the factory combo drive for these machines was Apple part number 661-2690 which I believe is a CW-8121-C. I have located someone selling a CW-8123-C combo drive and I have seen many people describing this as "able to work with" a wide range of powerbooks, including my friends model.

Before I buy this drive I would like to get definitive confirmation from someone that it will fit and will be compatable with this PowerBook. Can someone help convince me one way or another?
