Using standard Mac procedures - drag accrposs contigitious photos - select a photo and comand click non contingious photos

May be standard Mac, but what about on iPad? Before iOS5, selection occurred when you touched pic, so you could slide your finger across multiple photos. Now it occurs when you release your finger, meaning one at a time. Difficult for hundreds of photos backed up from camera kit. Also, what about on PC?
The question was about selecting in iPhoto. Iphoto only runs on Macs. What on earth are you asking about?
