Why won't my iPad 2 play music since I upgraded to iOS 5?

Since upgrading to iOS 5 my Music/iPod function does not appear to work. If I select a song it will either play something randomly from the playlist or not play anything at all. I don't recall this being a problem before the upgrade.

I have same problem. I have a huge custom playlist of songs that I play at hockey games. Many of them start in the middle of the song by design. None of these custom songs will play since this recent update. When I push play on a custom length song, it starts me at a random full length song within the playlist! *** gives? any help would be appreciated as my daughter has her first hockey game on Saturday! Thanks,

Same problem, here's how I solved it. With my iPad connected to my computer, I did the following in iTunes:

•I selected (My)iPad under Devices and clicked on the Summary tab at the top.

•Under "Options" I unchecked "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kpbs AAC".

•Then I went to (My)iPad>Music in the left column and clicked on the Autofill button at the bottom right of the iTunes window.

•A window opened asking if I wanted the iPad songs replaced with (the same) songs from this iTunes library, and I clicked "Replace Songs".

•When it finished recopying the songs onto my iPad, the songs played normally --but my Playlists were missing from the iPad.

•So, in the iTunes left column I dragged the missing playlists up to my iPad list.

•Finally I hit the Sync button to send the playlists to my iPad. then clicked Apply.

After days of frustration all seems normal now!

Altered from original solution from Emily P:

Okay, mine now works here is what I did.

  • plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
  • in iTunes select the phone or iPad
  • Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
  • Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
  • Sync
  • Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
  • Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
  • Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
  • Working now !!!!!
