Turning off Siri didnt change it for me.

Exactly. Siri on OR off makes no difference.

same problem here: i already exchanged the device once without success.

    what model(s) do you have?

both of mine were white 32gb... i wonder if it's model-specific?

Nah, white 16GB also has the problem...

I just spoke to Apple support. Here is how it went.

I was told to do a full restore as new and that if the problem still exsists that would confirm it is a hardware issue and not software related. If it is hardware related I was told I would send the phone in for a replacement with a brand new (NOT a service or refurbished phone).

The big concern is that I already see sveral here that have received replacements that still exhibit the static issue.

Did they refer you to an Apple store in your area for the replacement, or do you have to ship it FedEx, UPS, etc.?  I agree with your concern from several others that are on there second or third 4S with the same issues.

I have the same problem. Black 32G. It has always done it. I haven't got a replacement because I heard everyone still has the same problem, and I don't want to go through to trouble until there is some success stories. It absolutely drives me crazy, I put it on speaker it annoys me so much. It seems to do it anytime there is a work load on the processor as mentioned before. Hope apple figures this out ASAP, or I become hard of hearing :/

i've heard way more people getting it replaced and still haveing the same issue only like 3 people at the most got lucky and said they got a good phone.

Do you guys use a 'real' micro SIM, or a cut one?

    Micro from iPhone 4

Ugh. I went today and they swapped out my iPhone 4S 64gb (AT&T) because the night before I bought it I was hearing the crackling sound and it was pretty loud. I turned it off then on and I still kept hearing it. It kinda reminds me of when a Windows based computer is loading. When I got home today with my new unit. I STILL kept on hearing the sound. Before I had the 64gb 4S I had the 32gb 4S. I just paid the difference to get the newer model but I didn't have any problems with my 32gb 4S. I'm startin got regret swapping it out. Hopefully this is just a frimware issure rather than a hardware issue cause that would suck. At least I'm not the only one having the problem.

    I'm flipping out.

For what it's worth, I'm having the same issues. Intermittent buzzing in the ear speaker.

just came back from apple and swaped it with another so far test seems be not as bad still sorta there but it doesn't seem as bad as the first one.

I have the same issue.  I noticed that the only time I hear it is when there is audio in the background.  When I mute the TV or Radio...it, for me, goes away.  As soon as I unmute the TV or Radio, I can hear it again...  Maybe it's the noisecancelling mic causing it?
