By "40% louder than iOS5" do you mean that iOS5 is not as loud as 4.3.3? Because I installed iOS5 and it seems like I can't hear anyone when I'm on the phone unless I put them on speaker.
I am having problems with hearing people whether making or receiving a call. I have used the buttons on the side to turn the volume to max but still no joy. When I use bluetooth headset its fine just hands free. Can anyone please help, I have checked settings and cannot find what I might be doing wrong if anything.
Many Thanks In Advance
Sorry forgot to say I have the new Iphone 4s
iOS5 is not as loud as 4.3.3 using speakers didnt the other way
I am having the same problem. I don't have the 4s (I have an iPhone 4) but since I installed iOS5 I can't hear people on the phone. Some people have posted asking if new iPhone users have removed the plastic film off the front of the phone, which can obscure volume. This isn't my problem but maybe it would help you?
My problem since upgrading my Iphone 4 to IOS 5 is that the volume is completely hosed up. My volume controls on the side now do not work and I cannot play any music and I cannot get sounds to work on text messages. IOS5 *****!!! Apple you really screwed the pooch on this one! Bad part is Rotten Apple wants to charge me $29 for a one time help since I do not have apple care anymore. You would think that since their IOS is the cause of these problems they would step up and fix them. But looks like since Steve Jobs has died Apple is going down hill fast! I was getting ready to buy 2 more IPHONES for my family but I will now stay clear of them and buy Androids!
just restore.
did not work!
As a customer and iphone user, I don't think we should be the one who need to find a way ourselves to get around and restore the setting. Hence, restoring does not solve the problem. I already had my phone set up from day one. Especially we know that this is not a single customer's phone issue. It is their ios 5 problem.
Apple should find a solution and fix the problem.
Now my phone can not be used as a phone cos I can not hear the people on the other end.
I would wait till the volume problem get fixed in the next drop before considering getting an ipad.
Anyone find a fix to this? I've restored, did not work. My volume is all of the place. The keyboard clicks are sometimes muted, sometimes are so loud they wake the wife up. Same thing with other "advisory" type chimes (Text, Email, VM). I leave my phone on, why wouldn't I, and I am constantly being hammered at night on my email notification because it comes through blarringly loud. To my knowledge there is no setting to control the notification volume settings. Apple says take it to a "genius rep" who said, hmm that's weird. Try a restore. Really doesn't anyone troubleshoot anymore?
I am at the apple store now. They tried resetting my iphone 4 and said the problem persists and that it is a hardware problem. Since the phone is over a year old, they wanted me to pay $150. I was not pleased. I told them to put ios4 back on tthe phone, they said they can't go backwards. I explained that my phone worked fine until the ios5 update and this is applae's responsibility if it is a hardware incompatibility. I asked for a store manager who at first gave me the same line, then offered to split the replacement fee - I said I would do that if it was a 4GS, but they said no to that. Eventually, they agreed to replace my iphone 4 for free.
So a satisfactory outcome, but I still feel that apple has not taken responsibility for this issue and I am disappointed with their quality and overall lazy approach to addressing the issue.
So - think twice before you upgrade from ios4 to ios5 if your phone is out of warranty.
I have a similar problem; however, apple is handling it at no charge. After I updated to iOS 5.01 I have lost all sound from music and, at least alerts. My phone refuses to show iPhone as an option in AirPlay, but the problem is intermittent. The remedy I was informed by apple was to reinstall the OS as IF IT WAS A NEW PHONE, good luck.
Did it work? I really feel like I shouldn't have to go through all of that. I have worked hard to make my phone exactly how I want it 😟
Okay, iOS 5 just came out about a month ago. ALL new software has glitches even Android software does. How could you go to the extreme of saying you are switching to Androids that fast?! Calm down... Apple always fizes problems.
I agree, I don't even want to go to the trouble of resetting my phone until Apple has plenty of time to fix the problem. I trust them to do that.
