I thought I would give you all an update, I decided in the end that the only way to get this working again was to do a system restore back to when it used to work. So I did it and guess what.....It didn't work!

I am now totally at a loss as to what to do to get this working again. I'm thinking of going in to the Apple store and seeing if they can fix it, don't know what else to do.

Finally fixed it, found the answer on a nother thread

    try this:

Start --> Programs --> Accessories (Right Click on Command Prompt) --> Run as Administrator

    then type in:

    netsh winsock reset

After this restart - it worked for me perfectly

    got it from another thread:

    Thanks to Xeta!!!

    & Thanks to Joker666

    Hope this helps everyone!!!!!

Sorry Alreet but that solution doesn't work for me either. I tried every solution on the planet. Even danced around my laptop and blew air into the usb but nothing has changed.

Didn't work for me either. I don't know. All I did was update iTunes from 10.4 to 10.5 and problems started. Can't understand why we have to configure our computers to get 10.5 to work. I've pretty much given up until I find a new suggestion or maybe the next update will fix this problem. Tired of being frustrated.

I think I'll join you.  All the canned fixes don't work.  My diagnostics show I can reach the store, but when I click on the store from within the UI, I get what everyone elses does, nothing!  Apparently Apple doesn't really care as this seems to have been going on for a while.

Apple just had the nerve to send me a survey on my experience with their support on this issue. There was no support at all!! I killed them on the survey. I've always respected Apple until now. I guess I never needed support from them before. Anyway, this problem has caused me to look into other online music services out there. Amazon and Rhapsody are not bad. I can get apps using my iPhone so no problem there. Mostly all I do is buy music. If Apple won't fix this, I'll use other sources.

I would be happy to respond to their survey, really!  I worked on this thing for about an hour this morning and still can't figure it out.  I build multi national networks for a living, but can't get to iTunes store, go figure.

I hear you Craig, I'm an IT tech and this has me stomped!! I refuse to re-image my machine though. Everything works perfectly but iTunes Store and there are other music sources out there.

If I had the time, I'd try a support call.  I'm confused that Apple isn't all over this.  I want to buy music and it's as though they have no interest that many of their software users are unable to buy from them.  Anyone on the list have any updates?  Alreet, did you ever go into the Apple store?  I'll keep digging and will be sure to share with you if I find a fix.  Probably put a sniffer on it next to see waht is being called and subsequently blocked.

Glad it worked for you, Alreet, but, like others, it didn't work for me.  In fact, trying that caused my computer to be unable to access the Internet for any purpose.  (I'll admit I'm not a computer expert, but I've used computers for years and I followed the directions exactly.)  My IT person was able to restore my Internet access (thanks!), but I still can't access the iTunes store.  I've tried many things, as recommended by Apple, and nothing works.  As someone else said, I had no problems until I "upgraded" to 10.5.  I shouldn't have to rebuild my system to access iTunes....it should just work!  I am appalled that Apple hasn't been more helpful...or should I say helpful at all?!  This problem pops up all over the Internet, with a quick Google search, so it doesn't seem to be isolated to just a few of us.  I'm disgusted.

Hello!!! Apple!! Are you listening or reading!!!!! You're losing iTunes store sales!!

    Many thanks Alreet,

Your solution worked a treat  I have been trying to make this work for weeks.

apple won't acknowledge there is a problem with ITunes 10.5.

    Best wishes David

I'm surprised more people don't get the same results.  You are basically restting your entire TCP stack and it should break all network access, unless, of course, you have a very "vanilla"network with no modifications.

Apple, we'e waiting....  Funny, I don't think they monitor these communities.

Thank you for the winsock tip.. I'd overlooked that one and it fixed my issue.
