iCloud backup password verification

My iPhone 4 repeatedly pops open a notification to verify my password for iCloud backup. It reads something like "iCloud backup requires that you verify your password". It happens once or twice a day, usually first thing in the morning (after it has been charging overnight). Is this a bug, or have I missed something in my settings?

Has anybody else come across this, or have any idea how to fix it?

Thanks.

The more important question is whether this annoying repeated alert is coming from Apple or from a phishing hack to get access to all of your personal data on iCloud.

Apple already has your password everywhere it needs it. So the only safe assumption is that this is a serious security problem unless and until Apple acknowledges it as a bug and fixes it.

Until this question is resolved, the only safe thing is to turn off iCloud backup of your iPhone and rely on local backups to your computer.

This is also happening to my iPhone 4, 4S & iPads 2.

I have a phone appointment with Apple Care on Monday & I will talk to them about the issue. My guess is this will be resoved with the next OS update.

This is Apple Supports online response to this issue.

"iCloud Backup requires that you verify your password."It is necessary to enter your password to allow restoring of or adding to existing encrypted backups. Enter your password when prompted to resolve this issue.

So basiclly, this is no help!!!
