My iPhone 4 repeatedly pops open a notification to verify my password for iCloud backup. It reads something like "iCloud backup requires that you verify your password". It happens once or twice a day, usually first thing in the morning (after it has been charging overnight). Is this a bug, or have I missed something in my settings?
Has anybody else come across this, or have any idea how to fix it?

Verify by signing in at My Apple ID. You'll receive an email prompting you to verify.
I signed in and no email to verify was sent. I recall already doing this. Why does it then keep prompting me to do so?
Again, later in the day, iCloud Backup asked me to verify my password. Please help me, anyone!
This is what I keep getting, no matter what I do...
For now I am just going to turn off Storage and Backup (under Settings>iCloud) and see if it goes away.

Try resetting your Apple ID password > My Apple ID
Have you tried resetting your iPhone?
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
This is happening to me on both my iPhone 4S and iPad (original version). It's very frustrating.
Turning off iCloud Storage and Backup seems to have done the trick! Are you okay just backing up your two devices through an iTunes sync (the old fashioned way)?
I haven't tried resetting them. Having my iPhone 4 backed up throughout the day just isn't all that important to me. I usually sync it with iTunes every other day and that's frequent enough for me. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Is turning off the iCloud service really a helpful solution? I am having same problem in my 3GS prompting me constantly for the password. Solution please Apple.
I am getting the exact same issue. Just updated to iOS 5.01 and it is still doing it.
SO ANNOYING!
The more important question is whether this annoying repeated alert is coming from Apple or from a phishing hack to get access to all of your personal data on iCloud.
Apple already has your password everywhere it needs it. So the only safe assumption is that this is a serious security problem unless and until Apple acknowledges it as a bug and fixes it.
Until this question is resolved, the only safe thing is to turn off iCloud backup of your iPhone and rely on local backups to your computer.
You don't have to turn off iCloud. Just turn off iCloud backup of your device.
This is also happening to my iPhone 4, 4S & iPads 2.
I have a phone appointment with Apple Care on Monday & I will talk to them about the issue. My guess is this will be resoved with the next OS update.
