    One day is not proof of anything but for me this morning is the first time since I got my 4S that I left wifi on overnight while it was charging and battery was at 100%. I did the 5.0.1 update yesterday. For me it was always related to wifi, wifi on overnight - less than 100 in the morning, wifi off - always 100%. Today I'm quite pleased, we'll see if this holds up.

    My new Iphone 4 does the same thing. I charged it 2 nights in a row and it didn't get to 100%. I updated the os5 to os5.1 and it didn't make a difference. The third night it only charged to 91% insted of the 96% the previous 2 nights. I can unplug it in the morning then plug it right back in and it charges the rest of the way. I am mainly concerned the problem will only get worse. I have plenty of charges so plugging it back in in the morning on my way to work isn't a big deal. Just worried it will get worse.

    Same issue here, should I return the phone, I don't know what to do!

    Unfortunately iOS 5.0.1 did not fix the not-fully-charging problem for me. My iPhone 4S will sometimes be charged less than 100% even after being pugged in for 10+ hours.

    Well after a couple of days now with wifi on all night while on the charger my battery is reading 100% every day. So it looks like, for me, 5.0.1 has fixed the issue. I haven't experimented in detail but it also appears that overall battery life is better as well.

    I did a reinstall and that seemed to fix it.

    iPhone 4s on charge all night.

    5am = 100%

    Phone asked for password for iCloud backup - entered and backup started.

    iTunes wii sync started

    7am = 97%

    In plugge and plugged back in

    7:06am = 100%.

    So, is iCloud interrupting the charge cycle?

    Don't take it personally. Would it have been a bad thing if you hadn't provided the password at 5am?

    I've always made a bit of a stand against responding to electronics at 5am.

    I have had my 4s for about 3 weeks now and having the same issue. I have tried "calibrating it" with no luck. I have found that if I unplug it and plug it back in it will go up to 100%. Another way that has worked for me is shutting off the phone then plugging it back in, it powers on automatically but in the morning my battery is 100%. I have to assume its a bug either in the reporting of the correct battery life or actually charging. I have had plenty of iPods and iPads and never had an issue like this so I have a hard time believing this is not a bug

    I finally took my iPhone to the apple store after the recommendation from tech support. at the store they told me it sounded like the firmware was Corrupt. They bAcked up my stuff on iCloud then reinstalled the firmware. I haven't had any problems since. They were great to work with at the store. If I begin to have problems again I'll post again.

    I have to retract a little bit of my last post. After 5.0.1 if I leave wifi on but set iCloud backup to off my battery % will be 100 in the morning when I take my 4S off the charger. However if I set iCloud backup to on with wifi on the % will be less than 100 in the morning. So for me it looks like the issue is related to iCloud backup. A related issue is that when I go into Settings to turn off iCloud backup off the Settings app crashes. This will happen several times and if I check the backup setting it will be on. After a few attempts the app doesn't crash and the off setting sticks. It almost looks like the phone really doesn't want you turning that backup off

    Hmmm... I would think the same.

    My first 4S - fine, returned for factory blemish after a few days.

    Second 4S on 5.0 - fine, battery life shorter than original 3G but same as first 4S not as bad as people were reporting.

    Second 4S on 5.0.1 - updated 2 days after release, no change to battery life, everything seemed fine. Thursday of this past week, experienced rapid battery loss despite using the phone less than normal. Recalibrated the battery on Friday and it seems find. Plugged in (@67%) last night and this morning it was at 96/97%.

    Performed a soft reboot 10-15 minutes ago and am at 99% now.

    When 5.0.1 first came out my 4S was charging to 100% and staying there until I took it off the charger in the morning. So I thought this had fixed the issue which I guess it almost did, battery life overall is better. However prior to 5.0.1 I had turned off several items in Location and Notification centers in an attempt deal with this as well as possibly extend battery life. Since the battery was staying at 100% after the update I started turning some of those things back on and realized that the less than 100% condition was back.

    So I've been playing with the things that I had turned off. I've left iCloud backup off thinking that was the main culprit but it continued even so. Now, as before, the issue only occurs for me when wifi is on but after 5.0.1 even with wifi on it seemed resolved until I turned some of those settings back on. A couple nights ago I turned off the Weather widget in Notification center, since then the battery % has been 100 each morning. I'm going to try turning iCloud backup on again to see what happens but it looks like that Weather widget had a big effect on this but there may be others.

    I am now seeing the same thing happen here on my iPhone 4S.  If I disconnect and plug it back in it gets back to 100%, but I've found it plugged in in the morning after over eight hours of charging with less than 100%.  I've experienced it twice so far.

    Just found this thread after experiencing the exact problem described by others here for the first time. I've owned my iPhone 4S since October 14th (it's now November 27th). The entire time I've owned this phone I've experienced the fast battery draining issues notorious on the 4S, but I had, up until now, never had it not charge to 100% overnight. This morning I woke up to find it charged to just 93%. After reading through this thread I unplugged/re-plugged it into the wall, and as others have noted, it quickly charged to 100% again.

    The only thing that is really different or notable about my situation on this charge compared to the past is that we just returned from a short 3 day trip where my phone had not been connected to my home wi-fi network. During the trip I had been connected to wi-fi (elsewhere) every night, however, and the battery reached 100% as usual.

    My wife has an iPhone 4 (not S), and she experiences none of these battery issues. I keep all of our software updated to the latest versions.
