Yes, I use both. I find Amazon's iPhone app more friendly than iTunes for my iPhone. It is pure streaming with an option to download.

No I am not anti-iTunes store. I just prefer having both the CD and mp4 files or both the mp3 and mp4 files. I don't ever want to convert a mp4 file to a mp3 file!

You read my DRM sentence improperly. There are still many DRM files to purchase from iTunes. They include music videos, TV episodes, and Movies. Those are the DRM files that I am will to purchase from iTunes.

For the record, I NEVER buy books from Apple. I buy Kindle and Nook books and read them in iBooks on my iPad. You will have to figure how I can to that as I wouldn't say how online.

Why not? It's perfectly acceptable to do it.

I purchase books from B&N and Amazon then open them in the Nook/Kindle apps on the iPad.

Why not simply purchase AAC/MP4 from iTunes instead of MP3 from Amazon and using iTunes Match to get Mp4/AAC

Is this simply because you are against Apple/iTunes purchasing for some reason?

Apple makes it MUCH easier to delete files from your computer and redownload them from the cloud.

Trying to do it through Amazon is more difficult.

As stated by El Pat(), Amazon's music is quite often cheaper that Apple's music.

If you reread his post, you will see that he is using iBooks to read Kindle or Nook content...something you cannot do unless you convert your kindle & nook files to something that iBooks can read. He does not mention how it is done because it breaks the DRM which is a no no.

I too would NEVER buy anything in the iBook format, especially after learning about that D-Bag Steve Jobs colluding with other publishers to price fix the cost of books so that Amazon would suffer. As an early Kindle adopter, I was interested in iBooks when the iPad came out but quickly saw that it was a JOKE compared to Amazon.

I also urge you to break free of Big Brother (Apple) and try Amazon MP3, don't worry, Amazon makes it easy for you to import your purchases into iTunes. iTunes Match will also work with the files you buy there.

You urge me to do this and yet you still use an iDevice, iBooks, iTunes Match because?

I use what I want because it does what I want. I'm not tied blindly to anything.

Steve Jobs was a JERK, alive or dead. He hurt Apple as much as he helped it and I am tired of the saint like portrayal of him. iBooks was brought up and it reminded me of how I am still awaiting the settlement due to me from his nefarious actions with the other publishers. The more that people learn about him, the less inclined they will be to "worship" him.

I do have a few iOS devices, the iPad & iPod Touch were gifts but I enjoy them to the extent of what they are, 1 is a slightly larger version of the other but both are VERY LIMITED devices. They are designed with the lowest common denominator in mind which is not necessarily a bad thing. When my father-in-law died, we got my mother-in-law an iPad 2 because it was easy to use for a 70+ person who had never used a computer in her life.

I will probably ALWAYS have an iPod but the iPad will get swapped out just as soon as I can afford something else or it is gifted to me.

I continue to use iTunes and iTunes Match because of my 2 AppleTVs. Also I have a Sonos system in my house and sync my iTunes music files to a NAS drive which provides music to Sonos. It is easier for me to keep the system than to change it. If I were to start new, I might just use the Amazon files with Sonos.

I love the implemetaion of iBooks. However, recently I have been playing with the Nook app and I like their update very much. I expect my next tablet to be something besides iPad. My only concern are my movies but I don't watch movies on the iPad. However, it is nice to know that I can.

Due to DRM, I could never read an Apple e-book on anything but an IOS device. I can read my Kindle and Nook purchases on many devices and many different readers.

BTW I am anti-piracy so all my e-books were purchased by me.

After upgrading to iTunes 11, I lost cloud access to 5 season of Six Feet Under. I filed a support ticket on Tuesday. Today, Sunday at 3 PM I get a response that was basicly a form letter. It was clear that she hadn't read my issues. I was on the computer at the time so I responded to her e-mail She said she was there until 5 pm CST, 6 pm my time. In those three hours I got NO RESPONSE.

Apple support has no live phone numbers and no live chat. I have had two other problems in the past and it took up to three weeks to solve due to lack of live support.

AMAZON support is FANTASTIC! I can choose a return phone call (which I haven't used). Or I can choose live chat. I always get a live person within one minute. Now that is service!

I am quickly becoming anti-Apple software!

All this talk about MP3s and MP4s and who sells the cheapest.

Buy used CDs and rip them to whatever format you like. Best of all, you get to pick the best bit-rate to meet your needs. You now own the CD and the Red Book Audio spec is not going away for a long time.

Buy used compilation CDs like Greatest Hits, NOW series, Grammy and so on. You may pay more or less per song. It depends on your music preferences and how many tracks you rip from each disc. Even if youi pay 17cents more per song, you own the disc!

When you are done, import YOUR SONGS in to whatever application you prefer to use or just copy them as raw files to your device(s).

NEVER upgrade the iOS on your Apple device unless you backup the SHSH blobs. You have a limited window to backup the SHSH blobs. This will allow you to revert to your previous iOS version. Apple is adding more and more bloatware to their iOS without and options to remove un-needed apps.

Not sure why Apple forces you to stay with the current iOS. How does a developer test for backwards compatibility??? I can probably still install Windows 3.11 on my system but the MS support Window is closed and development is dead.

Make sure to backup your Apple device before you install any questionable APP or upgrade. If you do not like what you did; fully erase the device and do a restore.

NEVER upgade iTunes unless your computer is fully backed-up (Acronis). If you do not like the upgrade, then wipe out your computer and do a full restore.

If it is not broken, do not upgrade!!!!!!!! Many of my devices are still using iOS 4.3.3. This has nothing to do with Jail-breaking. I hate bloatware and un-needed APPs.
